OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY OCTOBER 12, 1992
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman called the meeting to
order at 9:30 A.M.~ and on call of the roll those members present were

Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney

Chief Clifton James Jr.,Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, Services
Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Rodger Caldwell,
Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, and Clerk Alice Davis

PARKING ON CHIPPEWA DRIVE
Mr. Harry Cooper a resident at 526 Chippewa Drive wants the parking on
each side of the street changed so there is not so much congestion.
He showed different situations. (see attached copies) Police Chief
Elliott said that Councilperson Donna Frantz sent out requests to each
resident asking them to refrain from parking on the street. Chief
Elliott said that Assistant Chief Charles Elder will make a traffic
survey and report back in two weeks.
SEWER CLAIM
Sewer Collection Manager Jim Matra presented to the Board a claim from
a resident who had damages from the sewer backing up into his
residence, when we had blockage in the Cities line. He has a claim
for $1903.00 for damages to his home. Member Rick Elliott made the
motion to pay this claim, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried
unanimously.
RESIDENTIAL PARKING SIGN 7
Steve Hardin is requesting a residential parking sign in front of his
home at 1021E. Market Street which is across from Jeff Boat Office.
He wants to open up a gun shop in his residence. Chief Elliott said
that the residential parking won't help his Gun Shop parking. Chief
Elliott said that he would take a look at this.
LIGHT POLES IN ELK POINTE
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin requests lights for Elk Pointe but he
doesn't want the Board to make a decision on this until he finds out
who paid for the poles in Foxboro because they are Historical Poles.
Les Kavanaugh said that he thought that PSI paid for the poles.
Director Lakeman stated that we are~nt going to do anything until we
find out more on this.

ARROW BOARD
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that there was an
emergency on E. loth. St. Friday October 9th. from 9:00PM t~
Midnight. He called to use the arrow board and was refused by a
supervisor~ because he might break it. He had to go to Steve Tolliver
and over ride one of his supervisiors. We charged Arrow Electric
$10.00 an hour, we did not have their emergency phone number.
Director Matra said that they would get George a key to the lock so he
could use it anytime.
INSURANCE AT OLD TREATMENT PLANT
Director Jim Matra said that after we stop using the old plant we
could put liability insurance on it. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater
suggested that we keep full coverage on it until we sell the equipment
in it.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
Holly Johnson from Mainstreet wants to remind everyone of the
Halloween Party downtown on Friday October 30, 1992 from 5:00PM to
9:00PM. We would like to have a little more Police protection.
STREET SWEEPING
Street Commissioner George Trembly wants Holly Johnson to put in her
newspaper that the street sweeper will be downtown on Fridays at
5:00AM weather permitting.
WORKSHOP
Director Matra wants an OK for Larry James to go
to be certified, if not his license will expire

STOP SIGN AT ?TH AND PENN STREETS
Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder said that due to the new stop
sign at ?th and Penn Streets, we would like to get the Boards approval
to get George to paint the curb yellow 10' on either side of Sasafras
Alley between ?th and Court Avenue. Director Matra made the motion to
paint the curb yellow between ?th Street and Court Avenue, seconded by
Member Police Chief Rick Elliott, and carried unanimously.

There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:09
seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
