HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-03-1992MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY AUGUST 3, 1992 Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker, Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley,Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen, City Services Coordinator George Trembly, ~Parks Director Roger Caldwell~ City Services Coordinator Les Kavanaugh, Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger,City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Building Commissioner Gavin~ Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, Council President Anderw Williams~ Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf. the minutes of July 27, Lakeman and carried Director Matra made the the motion to approve 1992 as presented, seconded by Director unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept the payrolls as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. 1022 E. COURT AVENUE In regards to the resident parking request at this address, Chief adequate parking at this address but he's waiting for the resident to contact him to make his wishes known. WYANDOTTE CO. Police Chief Elliott contacted Ron Parido of Wyandotte Co. about their trucks and the various problems with them. Mr. Parido said he would look into the problem and try to correct it. ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION Attorney Ceil Blau is asking permission to close a section of Highway 62 on August 20th to reconstruct an accident for a civil case. It will be closed for approximately 30 minutes sometime between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m~ from Spring to Watt Street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve this request, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. REQUEST FOR LEFT TURN ARROW Jack Waldrip, the Director of Plan Operations at Clark Memorial Hospital is requesting a left turn arrow at Spring and Sparks Avenue. Chief Elliott agreed that it is needed. Clark Memorial is willing to share in the cost of this. Building Commissioner Gavin will check into what the cost will be. Director Matra made the motion to accept the request~ seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. RAGE 2 ~ AUGUST 11~ 199B PARKING AT 1021 E. COURT AVENUE Charles Herman of lOB1 E. Court Avenue spoke regarding parking problems at his residence. He said he doesn't have adequate parking for family and friends. He hasn't decided whether he wants a resident parking permit or a handicapped permit. PARKING PROBLEM AT B3B GRAHAM Paul Mann of 23B Graham Street complained about JeffBoat workers parking in front of his home instead of in designated parking lots. Mr. Mann was advised to request a resident parking permit. Mayor Parker said this would be looked into by Police Chief Elliott and reported on next week. Clerk Treasurer Spencer suggested placing some "resident parking only" signs in this vicinity. FAIRVIEW DRIVE Council President Andrew Williams spoke on behalf of Fairview Drive residents along with Mrs. Nolan~ a resident. She had several complaints such as: grass cutting needed on easement, children playing in her yard, streets needing repair, drainage problem~ crosswalk needed for children across Hamburg Pike, needing a fireplug and streetlight on Fairview Drive. Mayor Parker said everything would be looked into.City Attorney Gillenwater suggested she contact the apartment owners attorney to get some of this resolved. City Services Coordinator Kavanaugh said he could take care of the light repair PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE City Attorney Gillenwater had a complaint form a person about damage to his car because of road in bad condition on Pennsylvania Avenue. USE OF DEPARTMENT VEHICLES City Attorney Gillenwater made everyone aware of state statutes regarding department vehicles. It says that vehicles may not be used outside of county in which the city is located unless on official business. Gillenwater said special provisions would need to be adopted for certain instances. LOSS SURVEY Director Lakeman talked about the loss survey done by Hartford Insurance stating the areas that need to be worked on. PERMIT PROBLEM ON FAIRVIEW AVENUE Building Commissioner Gavin said the storage shed will be relocated as per ordinance. BENCHES Street Commissioner George Trembly said Bruce Brumlich called concerning getting permission to drill holes in sidewalk to put anitque style benches in. He also asked about official permission for exclusive rights to put benches in the city. Mayor Parker said to look into this before taking any action. PAGE 3 AUGUST 11, 1998 RECYCLING BANNERS City Services Coordinator Les Kavanaugh reported that Banners are in. They will be placed in 4 areas. the Recycling DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen reported that equipment can be disposed of through sealed bid procedures. surplus There being no further business to before the Board of Public Works, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:30 a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
