OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, iNDIANA
MONDAY JULY 6~ 1992 ~
Andrew Williams III President of the City Common COuncil took the
place of Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. and called the meeting to order
at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roi1 those members present were
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: City Attorney Mike Gillenwater~ Building
Commissioner William Gavin~ ~ssistant Police Chief Charles Elder~ Fire

RIVERFRONT GREENWAY
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported on the Riverfront Greenway
between Clarksville~ New Albany and Jeffersonville. He reported that
the Greenway won't be coming to Jeffersonville because of the DeMacs
project.
TREE ON MAPLE STREET
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that the storm helped get
parts of the tree toter down, he is still working on the rest.
DRAINAGE IN FOXBORO
Building Commissioner BiI1 Gavin reported that the ditch is being
cleaned.
ROADBLOCK FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY
Marvin Potter wants permission to have a roadbIock on Allison Lane at
Highway 6~ on July 18th. and 19th. from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. He has to

William Arrington of Sea Pen Publications wants permission to sell
asvertisements for the County it wilt be called Clark County Carrivan~
the Jeffersonville publication will be called Jeff Monthly, it will be
to business to bueiness not door to door. He is registered with the
Clark County Police, Chamber of Commerce~ He works out of Scottsburg.

Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder said that this is a complaint and
he advised Terry Quinn that this is not the place to bring this up.
He will take care of this problem.
PROMOTIONS
Fire Chief Jerry Dooley asked for approval from the Board to give
these promotion. Lt. Clark Miles to the rank of Ma~or in the Fire
Prevention Bureau and Private John Palmer to Lt~ at engine 3.
Director Lakeman made the motion to accept theee promoti~ns~ seconded
by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
MOVE HOUS~
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin wants the Board to give him
permission to move a house at the corner of Clairvie~ and loth.
Streets~ he has to have City and State permits. Director Lakeman made
the motion to grant the City permit~ seconded by Director Matra, and
carried unanimously.
STEAMBOAT FISHING TOURNAMENT
Charles Ti)ompson wants the Ramp at Duffy's Landing closed on Sept 6th~
i99B for the Steamboat Fishing Tournament. Director Lakeman made the
motion to close the ramp at Duffy's Landing on Sept. 6th.~ seconded
by Director Matra, and carried unanimously~
SPEEDING ON CHIPPEWA DR.
Donna Frantz talked to Police Chief Rick Eltiott on this m~tter.
BUSH ON KEWANNA DR~ AND BTH. STREETS~
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin has already sent these people a
letter on this matter before. You can't see to get out on 8th~
Street. Commissioner Gavin will make contact with them again~
RUMPKE COMPLAINT
Director Lakeman has a complaint about Rumpke truck on Utica ~ke
during rush hour traffic going to work. He talked to Mr. Geo. Bowles
and change the route to pick up side streets and then go to Utica
Pike.

AVONDALE COURT COMPLAINT
James Wright a resident on Avondale Court complained that neighbors
are parking boats and trucks in front of his property. We have an
ordinance stating that it can't be done. Assistant Police Chief
Charles Elder will check this out.
CONDEMED BUILDING
Director Lakeman reported that the roof blew off the street
departments prevously condemed building~ The Cost of a new roof for
the whole building was estimated at $19~500.00 from J&J Roofing,
$~4~900.00 from Rooftex. We also asked for eetimates from Young
Roofing co. and also Falls City Roofing we have not received thief
estimates as of today.
STORM DAMAGE
Les Kavanaugh reported that with all the City Property damage during
the storm last week~ that he would like to implement a program with
Central Alarm System to alert the necessary agencies in the City when
there is an emergency~ We will draw up a program and bring it back to
the Board for approval.
CHIPPER
We have gone into overtime situation with the men working the chipper.
We need to contract a Chipper Service our chipper is satuated and over
burdened now. We can contract a Chipper starting today for $55.00
per hour which includes truck~ chipper and B men. We need to be open
ended on this because it might take 8 or more days. George will work
them a day at a time~ should be no longer than Friday.
STREET REPAIR
Mike Wathen reported that George Trembly talked to the Mayor last week
about street repair. Director Matra reported that there is still
money in Georges budget to take care of this.
EMERGENCY
Mike Wathen reported that he would like to have an emergency declaired
on his roof and building so that what the Insurance Company doesn't
pay~ that the Council will approve the claim for the deductible.
REPAIR MAIN
Steve Tolliver wants the Boards approval to make the repairs at Maine
Street and Charlestown Ave. where there was a cave in. Director
Lakeman made the motion to have the repairs on Maine Street and
Charlestown Ave. made, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried
unanimously.
