Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~ and on call of the roil those members present were Mayor Parker, Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Se~age Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Aleo present were: Street Commissioner Lee Hemingway~ Building Commissioner William Gavin~ Utilities Director Steve Totliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott~ Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder~ Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James Jrt, Animal Shelter Manager Jen Wheatley~ Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen~ City Services Coordinator George Trembly~ Park Superintendent Rodger Cald~ell, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman~ Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger~ Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion 1998~ as presented~ seconded unanimously. to approve the minutes of June 88~ by Director Matra and carried Director Lakeman made the motion to accept the payroll as presented, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. STREET LIGHT AND WARNING SIGN Building Commissioner Bill Gavin and Director Lakeman suggested the street light and warning sign on Fairview Ave. be tabled at time. that this LEANTO ON RIVERFRONT Parks Superintendent Rodger Caldwell talked to City Attorney Mike Gillenweter about this matter. Rodger reported that the leantowill be taken down~ also the porta-let will be removed~ PARKING SPACES It was recommended by Police Chief Elliott that the 2 parking spaces on 6th Street be eliminated~ and the curb be yellowed.. ONE WAY ALLEY Peggy Bratcher of 321 Locust St. ~ants made one way. Police Chief Elliott recommendation on this next week~ the alley next to her house be will check on this and make a Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported that Clark County Plan Commission on June lOth. renamed Jeff-Charlestown Pike and Charlestown-Jeff Pike to Charlestown Pike between the highway and Holmans Lane. We've had a request from Indiana Bell wanting to know if we are going to follow suit. Mayor Parker requested that we table this until City Attorney Mike Gillenwater returns from his vacation. VOTER REGISTRATION RALLEY Gary Moore of Hoosier Valley regarding Voter Registration Ralley on July 9th at I:OOPM in Warder Park. There will be ra!leys all over the state trying to get the homeless and iow income population registered to vote. Senator Kathy Smith will be the speaker for the day. Director Lakeman made the motion that permission be granted to have the Voter Registration Ralley at Warder Park on July 9th~ 1992, at t:OOPM~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously~ SWEEPER LEASE George Trembley reported that the City has had eeveral different sweeper companies demonstrate their sweepers, no other company has brought any proposals in except one. Charles Parsley of Best Equipment has brought his proposal in front of the Board. Through hie lease purchase program you have a choice of 1st. payment being delayed for one year, or make the let. payment when the equipment is delivered. The Sweeper will be covered under road service and full warranty. We would consider taking the old sweeper in on trade~ POLITICAL RALLEY Gary Drake requests permission from the Board of Public Works to have a political rattey at Warder Park on August 1st. from i:OOPM to 8:00PM. The primary speaker will be Mike Bailey. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept this~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. Mayor Parker had guest introduce themselves they are Jeff Adams~ his wife Mellony~ son Justin~ Niece Vallorie~ Nephew Anthony~ we have ~ reasons for being here i. we home school Justin, and want to observe how the Goverment works, B~ we are in support of Gary Drake~ and Mike Bailey. Also present were Dallas Hardin and Pastor Mike Hardin~ and Jason Drake. Correction on names James Drake, Dallas Sargent, Mike Sargent. JUNE 22~1998 PAGE 3 STEAMBOAT DAYS Director Lakeman reported that the Steamboat Committee wants to relocate the rides from Spring Street to the Preservation Station parking lot. They also need 2 flat beds. Asst. Fire Chief Clifton James Jr.~ will take a look at this and get back to the Board so we can report to the Steamboat Days meeting in July. The Committee wants the Streets closed on Sept. i0~ 1992, they have to let the Bueinesees know ahead of time. INSURANCE REPORT Edward C. Cooper, Agent of Record to report on the Cities Health Insurance. He gave a quarterly report on deposits and expenditures for the first quarter of 1992 of the Cities Health Insurance. He also asked permission to give this information at the next Council meeting. Director Lakeman made the motion that Mr. Cooper can appear before the Council, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimouely~ STEAMBOAT BOOTH Councilperson Andrew Williams requests who to talk to about getting a booth at ~Rodger Caldwel! has a phone list. Pam 'Festival, but she is ill. information for Mr. Towns on the Steamboat Days Festival. Gleason is President of the THANK YOU Mayor Parker received a letter of Thanks from the City of Louisville to the Jeffersonville Police Department for the Bridge Closing during the City Fair Centeped~ from Jerry W~ Lee: Personnel Director: for a job well done~ STEAMBOAT DAYS PARADE The Parade will be moved from Saturday morning back to Thursday Evening. STREET LIGHTS Building Commissioner Bill Gavin had a request from neighbors in the Suburban Acres Subdivision for street lights on Raintree Ct. and Bluegrass Ct. PSt will pick the spots where the lights will be placed. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the street lights for Suburban Acres~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 4 JUNE 22~ 1992 ARROW BOARD Mike Wathen reported that the arrow board has $175.00~ Also he will get with the Highway Dept. will put in a bid for another arrow board. been repaired for has their sale he WASTEWATER TREATMENT SCHEDULE Steve To!liver is working on a schedule for the start-up of the new Waetewater Treatment Plant and the loth Street Pump Station~ and when we can dedicate the new Plant. Hope to have the schedule for the next Board meeting. Mayor Parker commended all Depts. for a job well done during the bad weather last week. ANIMAL SHELTER Jan Wheatley reported 'that the air conditiong weeks Tom Kempf donated another unit. Jan President Andrew Williams of the City Council whole day with them. PRE-BUDGET MEETINGS Donna Metzger reported that the pre-budget todmy.
