Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker, ii Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection ~! Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: Building Commissioner William Gavin, Street Commissioner Lee Hemingway, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen~ City Services Coordinator George Trembly, Parks Representative Jackie Langdon, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman~ Deputy Clerk Suzy Nevitt~ Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of June 1~ 1992, as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. CIVIL AIR PATROL SIGN Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that the sign needs to put at another location. He will report on this location next week. MILL CREEK PUMP STATION Steve Tolliver reported get the best price for know next week. that he is getting three quotes together and the fence and installing it, and will let us RESIDENT PARKING Charles Herman of 1021 E. Court Avenue wants a resident only parking in front of his houee. He said with E. ?th Street being one way going West can E.Court Ave be made one way going East to releave some of the congestion. Mayor Parker asked Police Chief Elliott to check on this and make a recommendation on this. PEDDLER~S PERMIT Trey Nance along with Lee Mohrmann requests a peddler'e permit to sell educational study guides for the The Southwestern Co. out of Texas. The hours are 8:00AM to 9:00PM~ Mayor Parker told them that they will have to change those hours, but they would go to the City Clerks Office and the Police Department and fill out forms for the permit. There will be a $25~00 permit fee charged. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept this, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 2 JUNE If 1992 uAAU BASKETBALL Junior Harvey requests permission for roadblocks to collect for the AAU Basketball Team so they can go to the Nationals~ they need to raise $5000.00. They request the intersections at Hamburg Pike at Dutch Lane also at Main and Market Streets. Mayor Parker suggested that he make a schedule and get it to Mr. Lakeman our Personnel Director and we will then get it into the records at the next Board meeting as to where its going to be and what the times are. Director Matra made the motion to grant permission to Mr. Harvey for various roadblocks~ seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. BANNER FOR PROVIDENCE HIGH SCHOOL Bill Jenkins from Providence High School called Director Lakeman and requested banner for the school Festival June 13th and 14th be put up on E~ loth Street at the Census Bureau. Mayor Parker suggested that Director Lakeman get together with George Trembly and coordinate another location. MASON FUNERAL HOME Director Lakeman received a call from the Mason Funeral Home regarding repairs to the sidewalk. She would like a street light put up in the alley in the back of the Funeral Home, she also would like the alley paved. Mayor Parker suggested to go ahead with the sidewalk repair with the 50/50 cost. The City doesn't put street lights in alleys~ or pave alleys. ZONING PROBLEMS Mr. Tom Steinberger has a zoning problem at 428 Walnut Street said that the Clairy Enterprises is operating where the property is resider rial zoned. Buildi~g Commissioner Bill Gavin reported that the zoning Attorney is working along with the Clairy Attorney and are coming in front of the ~oning Board for a zoning change sometime this month. The property owners will be n~tified when this will take place. BUDGETS Mayor Parker reminded all Department Heads should have their Budgets in to Donna Metzger's office by June 15th. THANK YOU Mayor Parker read a letter from Govenor Bayh thanking our City and especially Donna Metzger for a ~ob well done~ SUBLEASE City Attorney Mike Giltenwater has the sublease agreement from the Star of Louisville Group for the Board of Public Works to approve it.(copy of contract in contract file). Director Lakeman made the motion to accept the Lease on the Floating Restaurant, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. p~GE ~ JUNE 1, 1998 L__OADING ZON~ Life Oxygen at 338 Spring Street requests a 10 minute limited parking instead of the 8 hr. parking in front of their building. Mayor Parker suggested that they come in front of the Board and make that formal request. Chief Elliott can take a look at the situation STREET CLOSING Gospel Ministeries requested street closing last week at the Board meeting. Fire Chief Jerry Dooley has no objection to the street closing on July 11, 1992 as long as the intersection at Chestnut and Walnut Streets remain open during the festivities. pERMIT Nathan Grimes of the Engineering Company of Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz brought a permit from the Corp of Engineers to be signed for installing the utilities from Riverside Drive to Spring Street down to the river for the Hard Dock Restaurant. LETTER SENT TO PSI Steve Tolliver sent a letter power outages at the Crums Subdivision requesting them to of weaklings they might have. trying to keep the cost down. to PSI about the electrical problems, Lane Lift Station at the Meadows look at there loadage and see what kind t am stilling looking at generators and There being no further business to come before the Boards Mayor Parker made the motion to adjourn at 10:10 A.M., seconded by Director Lakeman ATTEST: ~
