A RESOLUTION REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED
JEFFERSONVILLE AQUATICS CENTER FROM THE SOUTHERN
INDIANA-CLARK-FLOYD CONVENTION & TOURISM BUREAU
Whereas, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville ("Council")
has unanimously endorsed development of a Jeffersonville Aquatics Center;
and
Whereas, the Southern Indiana-Clark-Floyd Convention & Tourism
Bureau's ('Tourism Bureau") mission is to promote convention and tourism
business in Clark & Floyd Counties
Whereas, the Tourism Bureau receives much of ks funding from a local
room tax levied on hotel space in Clark and Floyd Counties; and
Whereas, the Council believes the Jeffersonville Aquatics Center will
increase convention and tourism and use of hotel space in Clark and Floyd
Counties by drawing large aquatic competitions;
Now, therefore, k is hereby Resolved that the Council requests, and
would strongly encourage, the Tourism Bureau's participation in the planning,
development and funding of the Jeffersonville Aquatics Center; and
It is hereby further Resolved that the Council requests that the
Tourism Bureau attend a Council Workshop in March, 1999 for the purpose of
discussing funding mechanisms for the Jeffersonville Aquatics Center.
