HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-24-1992MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY FEBRUARY 24, 1992 Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 and on call of the roil those members present were Mayor Parker~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: Building Commissioner William Gavin, Street Commissioner Lee Hemingway, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James, Assistant Police Chief Charlie Elder,Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen, City Services Coordinator George Trembly, Park Superintendent Rodger Caldwell, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman~ Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHT INFORMATION Commissioner Gavin is to get in touch with the County Engineer Hyun Lee about sharing the cost of lights. EAGEL STEEL Commissioner Gavin called the CEO of Eagel Steel and informed her of the complaints about the signs. She said it would be looked into. TREE AT 901 E. SEVENTH This matter will need to be investigated further as Commissioner Gavin found no one home to find out if tree is on private property. PARKING FEE ORDINANCE City Attorney Gillenwater discussed an ordinance for parking and loading zone fees. Recommendations will be made at a later date. ALGAE SWEEP CLEANERS Utility Director Tolliver presented to the Board his recommendations about the sweep cleaners. He recommended implementing this at the end of the construction phase and as a Change Order to save money. Mayor Parker asked Tolliver to talk to vendor about this arrangement. AUGUSTA DRIVE SHOULDERS Commissioner Gavin reported that the shoulders are very close to road and dangerous. Jacobi and Toombs is sending an estimate for additional work to rectify this problem. DRAINAGE PROBLEM In regards to Arthur Meyers drainage problem~ Commissioner Gavin has received a drawing from Jacobi and Toombs to take care of problem when money is available. PAGE 2 FEBRUARY 24~ 1992 RESIDENT ONLY SIGNS Street Commissioner Hemingway reported to the Mayor that there are 101 resident only parking signs in the city as requested. SECOND CHANNEL REQUEST Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen asked the board to consider getting a second channel for the mobile radios because of crowding. Mayor Parker asked Commissioner Wathen to get an estimate on an extra channel and an estimate on repeater system. REPORT ON RENOVATION PROJECT Animal Shelter Manager renovation project at on Wednesdays thanks to Jan Wheatley reported to the board that her the shelter is complete and ready to move into Contractor Steve Kempf. There being no further business to come before the Board~ Mayor Parker made the motion to adjourn at iO:OOA.M.~ seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. ATTEST:
