OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
TUESDAY, JANUARY 217 1992
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 8:30 P.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker,
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner William Gavin, Street
Commissioner Lee Hemingway, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility
Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Assistant Police
Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ Animal Shelter Manager

NACHAND LANE DRAINAGE BIDS
The following bids for Nachand Lane Drainage work were discussed; Dan
Cristiani $5,986.00, Southern Indiana Excavating $3,536.00, Irish Park
$5,990.00~ Reschar Construction $5,800.00~ and Corex $12,500.00.
Following discussion Director Lakeman made the motion to award the
work to Southern Indiana Excavating, seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously.
REQUEST FOR THREE-WAY STOP
A request has been received from Councilperson Marie Clapp for a
three-way stop at Meadowlark and Allison Lane. As this is a County
intersection, the City is not able to do this.
REQUEST FOR RESIDENT PARKING ONLY
A request has been received from Ms. Lang, 1003 East 9th Street, for a
resident parking only sign. This request will be tabled for
investigation by Directors Lakeman and Matra.

REQUEST FOR CURB CUT
Mr. Lin Marr, a resident at the corner of 8th and Main appeared before
the Board to request a curb cut. Mr. Mart displayed pictures showing
the heigth of the curb and explained he has no parking available on
the street. Commissioner Hemingway explained this has not been done
by the City in the past~ however permission has been granted for
residents to do the work. Following all discussion, Director Matra
made the motion to allow Mr. Mart to cut the curb~ seconded by
Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
REQUEST FOR LOADING ZONE
Mr. Chuck Moore and Mr. Max Zimmerman appeared before the Board to
request a loading zone at 350 Spring Street. Following discussion as
to what has been done in the past, it was decided to table the request
and look at the matter. Parking Meter Officer Haire will be asked to
contact Mr. Moore and Mr. Zimmerman.
ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT
An agreement between the City and Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, Inc., for
general engineering services was presented and reviewed. Director
Lakeman made the motion to accept the agreement as presented, seconded
by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
STEAMBOAT DAYS
Mr. Dick Wright appeared before the Board to explain negotiations are
in progress to hold power boat racing during Steamboat Days. This
would not involve any additional street closures or services.
SEWER TAP REPAIR AT 622 CHIPPEWA
Director Tolliver reviewed a sewer problem at 622 Chippewa. The line
is old and full of roots. A plumber has cleaned out to the street and
the home does have service. The portion in the street now needs to be
dug and repaired. Following all discussion~ Director Lakeman made the
motion to deny the request to have the City do the work, seconded by
Director Matra and carried unanimously.
PUMPING STATION ROAD ACCESS
Director Tolliver explained there is a problem with cars blocking the
access road at the Eastbrook Manor pumping station. Director Lakeman
made the motion to install appropriate signage, seconded by Director
Matra and carried unanimously. Director Tolliver will approach the
developer to pay for these signs.
EQUIPMENT REMOVAL AT OLD WWTP
Director Tolliver has received quotes of $3,000 and $?,000 to remove
two of the tanks at the old WWTP site. There may be some scrap value.
It is Director Tolliver's feeling the plant should be gutted and put
up for sale. This will be looked into.

Director Lakeman has received a request from the Air Force Reserve for
old signs. Commissioner Hemingway informed the Board the City has no
old signs in storage.
COMMENDATION
Mayor Parker commends the Fire Department, Police Department, Street
Department, Sewer Department, and ali City Departments for the work
during the Quadrangle fire. Mayor Parker stated "we have the best",
and he appreciates it. Letters of appreciation will be going to~
Clarkville, Utica, New Albany and McCulloch for their help
CAR PHONE LIST
Director Tolliver presented the car phone list as requested.
REQUEST FOR NEW ADDRESSES
Commissioner Gavin presented a list of new addresses for Four Oaks
Subdivision. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept the addresses
as presented.
THANK YO~
Commissioner Gavin relayed a thank you he received from America Place
for the Police Patrols.
Fire Chief Dooley thanked all those that helped during the fire.
Official letters of thanks will be going out.
CERTIFICATE OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD
Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented a certificate of Members of the
Board, Clerk Treasurer and City Attorney received from INB Bond Bank.
This was signed as requested.
HOPKINS LANE DRAINAGE
Attorney Gillenwater has met with Mr. Myers concerning the drainage
problem on Hopkins Lane. He reviewed the problem as he understands
it. Attorney Gillenwater is willing to talk to Mrs. Bliss and her
attorney.
