Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~ and on caii of the roil those members present were Mayor Parker~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Engineer Bob Miller~ Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater~ Plant Superintendent Larry James~ Police Chief Rick Eltiott~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh~ Packs Superintendent Rodger Caldwell, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird~ and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of November 88, 1993 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. PAINTED CURBS ON ?TH STREET City Engineer Bob Miller reported that he talked with Police Chief Dean Marble about the painted curbs on have decided not to persue it anymore. County Assistant ?th Street~ they ZONING PROBLEM~ BO09 SPRING STREET Building Commissioner Bill Gavin checked Robert C. Shroyer at 8009 Spring Street. Shroyer's address stay Spring Street. on the zoning problem of Bill recommends that Mr. OIL REFINING PRESENTATION Dan Ruckte a representative of Baker Bohnert Co. of Louisville, Ky. made a presentation on oil refining process. The machine cost is $B80~.00. It costs the City $6600.00 a year to change oil for A pieces of equipment. The filters will cost $58.00 each. Mayor Parker asked Plant Superintendent Larry James to get references from this Company and check with Doug Ralston at PDR and also get some figures on the amount of savings. REMINDER Mayor Parker reminded all Department Heads Clerk-Treasurers Office all transfers have 3, 1993. that at the request of the to be in on Friday December SEWER TAPIN AT THE PORT City Attorney Mike Gillenwater received a letter from the Port Commission about the sewer line tapir. They are asking that the papers and description be sent to them. They have to have them signed by the Port Commission and the Governor. Mike said that as soon as we get the legal description prepared give it to him and he will forward it to the Port Commission~ PAGE B NOVEMBER Bg, !993 STREET LIGHT Sewage Collection Office Manager Jim Matra reported that he has been asked to bring back to the Board a request for a street light at 210 E. Park Place. Jim said that Police Chief Rick Elliott investigated this in September and the trees were blocking the light. Mayor Parker asked Chief Elliott to check this out again and let us know something~ STREET LIGHTS IN THE MEADOWS SUBDIVISION City Engineer Bob Miller reported that PSI called him and said that there are 43 lights in the Meadows Subdivision that the City hasn't been paying for. PSI agreed not to charge for the past charges. The cost will be $28&.00 a month for that subdivision. ENTRANCE CUT AT CONSOLIDATED TIRES City Engineer Bob Miller reported that Consolidated Tires located at the corner of Main and E. 1Otb Streets wants permission to cut an entrance into their business on the Main Street side at their expense. The State put curbs in and did not leave an opening into their business. Bob checked with the State and it is City property. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the entrance cut at Consolidated Tires at their expense, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. PAVING HAMBURG PIKF Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that he wants to pave Hamburg Pike from the bridge to Spring Street. The sewer work has been finished~ that cost was $5200.00. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater suggested that the Board ok the use of the $13~000.00 ).eft by the Contractor to pave Hamburg Pike. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the use of the $13,000.00 left by the contractor~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. SEWER BACKUP AT PIC PAC GROCERY Plant Superintendent Larry James reported that Gary Bush, Manager of Pic Pac Grocery Store on E. loth Street has sewer backup problems. Larry eaid that the sewer line is on their property. Mr. Bush said that the owner Jerald Landau won't have the sewer fixed because he said that it belongs to the City. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater suggested that Mr. Bush call Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz and have Mr. Lanz write a letter to both Mr. Bush and Mr. Landau stating that the problem is on their property. GRAN~ APPLICATION Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that he is submitting a grant application~ its the Federal Grant that President Clinton program to put another 100~000 Police Officers on the street. Chief Elliott said that he s been working with Dick Spencers Office and wants to commend Dick and his staff for assisting us in research for this grant. Chief Elliott said that if we receive what were asking for we are looking at a $695~000.00 grant for personnel only over a 3 yr. period. We applied for 6 additional Police Officers. Also Chief Elliott said that we just received a grant from the State of Indiana to continue DUI enforcement and this grant will cover overtime ex er=es months, Lt.
