OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY OCTOBER 4, 1993
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker~
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ Street
Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility
Director Larry James, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Asst.Fire Chief
Clifton James Jr.~ Animal Shelter ManagerJan Wheatley, Vehicle
Maintenance Mike Ewton, City Services Coordinator Mike Ewton~ Parks
Superintendent Rodger Caldwell,Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, City
Engineer Bob Miller~ City Services Coordinator Les Kavanaugh,
Administrative Asst. Donna Baird, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard
Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of Sept. ~?~ 1993 ~ as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
DAMAGE FROM POTHOLE
Mr. Harry Funk of R~ll Poindexter Lane in Sellersburg reported that
damage was done to two of his wheels when he hit a pothole on Allison
Lane on Sept. 4th. He has gotten an estimate of $425.00 each to
repair these wheels. Mayor Parker advised him to speak with City
Attorney Mike Gillenwater on this matter.
SEWAGE ODOR
Pastor David Williams who lives at the corner of Mary Street and
Hamburg Pike spoke of problems with sewer odor. Wastewater Treatment
Director James explained how to alleviate this problem and said it
would be taken care of. He also complained about people using the
property across from his house for racing cars. Chief Elliott said
there have been numerous complaints on this matter and he said he
would make contact with the owners of the property once more.

GARBAGE PICKUP
City Services Coordinator George Trembly said that he's been in
contact with Mary Vanderpool of Sherwood Heights and he thinks the
problem is under control.
GROUNDBREAKING
Mayor Parker announced there will be a groundbreaking ceremony
Tuesday, Sept.5, at 9:30 a.m. on tine Market Street project.
RIVERBOAT GAMERS
Mayor Parker urged all department heads not to be in contact with the
Riverboat gamers.
FLASHING SIGNAL
City Attorney Gillenwater reported speaking to Sandy Lewis, the School
Corp. Attorney in regards to flashing signals on Allison Lane.
KEWANNA DRIVE
City Engineer Bob Miller spoke in regards to a 5 ft. utility easement
at 531 Kewanna Drive being used for dirt bikes~ motorscooters
etc.Director Matra made the motion to approve fencing this opening,
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
CLARK MARITIME REQUEST
City Engineer Bob Miller also reported being called BY Rodney Gross of
Clark Maritime Center requesting stop signs on Utica Pike. Everyone
agreed the etop signs would be too close together. Director Lakeman
made the motion to deny the stop sign, seconded by Director Marra~ and
carried unanimously.
BTH AND WATT PARKING PROBLEM
City Services Coordinator George Trembly reported on a parking problem
at 8th and Watt. It was decided to make this a "no parking" area.
Lakeman made the motion to accept~ seconded by Director Marra, and
carried unanimously.
CHAS-NEW ALBANY ROAD
City Services Coordinator George Trembly proposed to pave the road
from the beginning of construction to the end of the construction
rather than leave the center remaining as is for approximately
$1,100.00. The Wastewater Treatment will pick up the tab on this.

UNITED WAY CARDS
Donna Metzger reminded all departments to get their United Way cards
turned in. She also thanked George Trembly for the duck crossing
signs.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:00
a.m., seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
