MONDAY SEPTEMBER B?, 1993
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parkers
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater~ Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton~ Plant Superintendent
Larry James, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley,
Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, City Services Coordinator Leslie
Kavanaugh, Parks Activities Director Chuck Branham, Sewer Office
Manager Bob Goldman, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Clerk and
Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of September BO~ 1993 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously.

3-WAY STOP AT TALL OAKS AND LILLIE RUN ENTRANCE
Police Chief Rick Elliott said that he would like to have another week
for a traffic study for the 3-way stop at Tall Oaks Drive and Lillie
Run Entrance.
YARD SALE
Police Chief Rick Elliott said that he had a call complaining about
blocking driveways on Morningside Drive during yard sales. Chief
Eltiott said that when he received the call he was in the area and
checked it out and there were only R vehicles there. Street
Commissioner George Trembly said that he found an Ordinance about
Morningside Drive stating that there is no parking on either side of
the street and the entire length. George said that there are a few
signs up but, there should be more. Mayor Parker asked Chief Elliott
to monitor this situation.

Mayor Parker said that Tony is the strongest Police and Firefighter in
· the nation in the Drug Free category. He's 3~th in the nation~
including drug and drug free. Tony will appear in the National open
in April and the World Championship next summer in London. Mayor
Parker complimented Tony for all his hard work and also for
representing Jeffersonville. Tony said that he will leave his plaque
in the Police Station and share it with everyone.
HALLOWEEN IN THE PARK
Parks Director of Activities Chuck Brenhem representing the Parks
Department has two requests from the Board. The Halloween in the Park
at Warder Park is October 89, 1993 from 5:00pm-9:OOpm. Chuck would
like to have no parking on Court Avenue~ Spring and Wall Streets~ and
would also like to have traffic and crowd control for that night.
George Trembly suggested that they close Court Avenue from Wall to
Spring Street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the street
closing, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
RED CROSS ROADBLOCK
Clarksville Fire Chief Jim Kaster, requests for a roadblock at Hamburg
Pike and Dutch Lane on Saturday October 16, 1993 for the Red Cross.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the roadblock, seconded by
Director Marra, and carried unanimously.
AGREEMENTS FROM THE COUNTY COMMISSIONER~
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that he would like for the Police
Department or Bill Gavins Department deliver some agreements from the
County Commissioners concerning the Court Room to the City Council.
STREET LIGHT REQUESTS
City Engineer Bob Miller reported that he has requests for 1 street
light on Cardinal Lane and also 3 lights on Whitehorse Vale. Director
Lakeman made the motion to approve the ~ street lights~ seconded by
Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT SPRING AND 8TH STREETS
City Attorney Bob Miller would like permission to put a concrete pole
by the traffic light at the corner of 8th and Spring Streets. Bob
talked with Assistant Police Chief Charles Eider and he suggested he
have a sign that reads "No Semi-Truck right hand turn onto Spring
Street". Mike Gillenwater said that we need to have an Ordinance for
the sign and he will draw one up. Mike gave the go ahead for the
concrete pole, but it should be painted yellow.
STREET CUT BY STATION ~3
Street Commissioner George Trembly said that there was some question
about the location of the street cut by the Fire Station ~3 on Hamburg
Pike. Bob Miller's location of where the street cut was is accurate,
he had the right location.
SEAL BLACKTOP AT THE STREET DEPARTMENT
Street Commissioner George Trembly said that on Friday October i, 1993
they will be cleaning out the yard at the Street Department, because
on Saturday October B, 1993 they will be sealing the blacktop. If
there is an emergency it can be taken to the side gate.
PAVING MAIN STREET
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that the paving on Main
Street was to start todays but has to be postponed until October 6~

STEAMBOAT DAYS FESTIVAL PLAQUE
Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger reported that the City received
a plaque from Steamboat Days Festival awarding the City and it's
Departments for all the hard work. Harold Lakeman became a Honary
Committee Member.
FLASHING SIGNALS ON ALLISON LANE
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that he sent letters to Greater
Clark School Corporation and to the County Commissioners regarding the
flashing signals on Allison Lane, and have not received any response.
Mike talked to Hyun Lee the County Engineer and he told Mike that they
should not contribute to the installation of the lights because of the
~ mile fringe. They think that we will annex that area after we
install the signals.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
lO:lOa.m., seconded by Director Ma~ and carried~imously~
