HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-16-1993MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY AUGUST 16, 1993 Administrative Assistant Donna Baird filled in for Mayor Parker in his absence and called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roil those members present were Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra, and Administrative Assistant Donna Baird. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Plant Superintendent Larry James~ Police Chief Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Mike Ewton, Parks Superintendent Rodger Caldweil, and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of August 9, 1993 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. BLOCKED DRIVEWAY Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that he sent a Police Officer to the residence of June Oliver, 1413 Frances Drive regarding the blocked driveway. Chief Elliott reported that this situation has been solved. FLOODED STREET ~&. Bill Hensley, 3i26 Emerald Ct. reported that the streets at Childers and Emerald Ct. is flooded everytime it rains and the mud is constantly going down the street. City Engineer Bob Miller said the streets have not been dedicated, he called the builder, Mr. Bob Lynn, who is always on vacation, or out and won't return phone calls. Bob Miller talked to Doug Rawlings, second in charge, he promised to clean up the mess, he put straw down~ but did not clean up the streets. Also Mr~ Hensley said that the traffic problem is real bad~ Police Chief Elliott said that we have a problem with that because the streets are not dedicated, but its on the spot enforcement list for selective enforcement~ in the evenings from 3:30-6:30 p.m. when most of the problems occur. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater will call Mr. Lynn or write him a letter. TOW-AWAY ZONE Tammi Gibson, 1012 E. Court Avenue requests a tow-away zone, she was not present at the meeting, this was tabled. PAGE B AUGUST 16~ 1993 VACATE EASEMENT Building Commissioner Bill Gavin requests to vacate a portion of easement on lot ~306 Foxboro. We have letters from all the utilities~ and have necessary survey and etc. and also a drain easement. Mr. Bob Miller checked the drain easement out during a 2" rain and it works fine. Bill said that he has no problem of vacating this easement. Director Matra made the motion to accept the vacating of the easement for lot ~B06 Foxboro~ seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. DEDICATION OF FOXBORO SECTION Building Commissioner Bill Gavin requests the dedication of Foxboro Section I. Bill said that he can't find it in the Board minutes about this. Bill thought it was brought before the Board at the end of last year, or early this year. He is bringing it back before the Board to have it dedicated. Director Lakeman asked about ADA approved sidewalks, they will have to be brought up to ADA standards, in section I. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that he has received complaints from the residents who live in section ti that the curb work has not solved the problem. Following all discussions this was tabled until the next time and we get approval to make those additional changes. ENTRANCE RAMP AT 9TH & MEIGS City Engineer Bob Miller received a letter from City Attorney Mike Gillenwater concerning the entrance to the ramp at ?th & Meigs Avenue. Bob has met with Mr. Hawkins the Architect and they do have a problem with water running down the ramp and getting in the building. The Building Authority is asking us to pay 1/3 of the cost to have it fixed at $57000.00. Director Matra said that we have no funds to spend and wiii have to go before the Council. Mike Gillenwater said that he will call the Building Authority about this matter. PAVING Street Commissioner George Trembly said that he gave the Board a letter on proposals for the second phase of paving, it won't start until September. We will be paving from loth Street to Charlestown Avenue~ we are having problems that have to be taken care of before the utilities go in. We will pave after the utilities get finished tearing everything up. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 9:50a.m.~ seconded by Director Marr~!9 and carried unanimously.
