Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker,
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller~ Street Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater~ Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder~ Chief Fire Chief
Jerry Dooley~ Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ Vehicle Maintenance

Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of July 1~ 1993 as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.

LEFT TURN SIGNAL HAMBURG PIKE AND NEW ALBANY/ CHARLESTOWN PIKE.
City Engineer Bob Miller reported that Metzger Electric gave him a
quote of $3~438.00 for furnishing all labor and material for a left
turn signal on Hamburg Pike and New Albany/Charlestown Pike. Mayor
Parker said that there is no money available as of now~ but we need to
hold on to the quote.
RESIDENT PARKING 386 W. MAPLE STREET
Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder reported that Chief Elliott and
George Trembly took care of the resident parking problem at 326 W.
Maple Street. George said that they painted a yellow line in front o'f
the fire hydrant and now she has room to park her vehicle.
BASKETBALL GOAL ON AVONDALE COURT
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that he received a letter from Mr.
~: Mrs. Wright of Avondale Ct. on July 147 1993 concerning the
basketball goal on Avondale Ct. Mayor Parker said that we made the
decision on this the last time and we are going to leave it stmnd as
is.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM AT ~405 CORNWELL DRIVE
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that Jacobi, Toombs and
Lanz took a look at this, and Bob Miller and George Trembly shot
elevations on it and the only way that it will work is to extend the
concrete ditch 800~to make it to Bishop Road. We are getting a cost
estimate on it now~

FISHING TOURNAMENT
Charley Thompson is asking ~he Boards approval for the 3rd annual
Steamboat Sass Tournament. The conditions will be the same as the
past B years. Mr. Thompson has already met with Parks Superintendent
Rodger Caldweil. Director Lakeman made the motion to allow Chas,
Thompson coordinate the annual Bass Tournament for Steamboat Days,
seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
MUNICH WELDING
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported that he is receiving
complaints about the mess at Munich Welding the shacks and wood
pallots. Bill said that the people should be made to clean up the
mess, it's not 'the City's job. Mayor Parker asked Mike Gillenwater to
send a letter to Don Pfister about this situation.
RESIDENT PARKING
Mr. Donald Clark of 604 Graham Street requests a residential parking
sign at his home. Mayor Parker asked Asst. Chief Charles Elder to
have Lt. Dave Schmidt take a look at this and bring back a
recommendation to the Board next week.
BLASTING AT LITER'S QUARRY
Mr. Glen Emly said that they are still having trouble with the
blasting at Liter's Quarry. Larry Hardin went to Mr. Emly~s home at
2:55pm on July 14, 1993, the blasting started at 3:00pm~ Larry
documented the blasting. Mayor Parker said that he would like for Mr.
Emly meet with Mr. Les Kavanaugh after the meeting because he has
attended blasting school.
ROADBLOCK
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater has a request for a roadblock for Laura
Minton who has brain tumors. They request the roadblocks for Saturday
July 24~ 1999 from lO:OOam-6:OOpm~ at 8th Street and Springdate Drive,
Market and Walnut Streets~ Hamburg Pike and Dutch Lane. Director
Lakeman made the motion to approve the roadblocks~ seconded by
Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
ROADBLOCKS
Assistant Police Chief Charles Elder said that he has a request for
roadblocks for Missie Vissing Fundraiser, for July 33 & ~4 1993~
Since July ~4, 1993 is already taken Friday July 33~ 1993 will be
alright. They request the roadblock for Market and Walnut Streets~
Hamburg Pike and Butch Lane from ~:OOpm -6:00pm. Director Lakeman
made the motion to approve the roadblocks, seconded by Director Marra~
and carried unanimously~

BUDGETS
Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger Baird reported that the
Department Heads do not have to be present at the Budget meetings this
week. Mayor Parker said that the Council will b~ cutting the Budget.
Donna said that you will be hearing from the Council if you need to be
there.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
lO:OOa.m., seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
