OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY APRIL 19~ 1993
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker~
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sew'age Collection
Office Director Jim Marrai
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ Street
Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility
Director Steve Tolliver~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter
Manager Jan Wheatley, Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen~ City
Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Rodger
Caldwell, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman~ Administrative Assistant
Donna Metzger, and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of April 18~ 1993 as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.

City Attorney Mike Gillenwater suggested that we review the bids and
see that everything is in order and then make the decision. Director
Lakeman made the motion to review the bids and wait for the Solid
Waste meeting: before making the decision~ seconded by Director Matra
and carried unanimously.
STOP SIGN
Street Commissioner George Trembly said that Bob Miller went to
Francis Drive and measured for the stop sign and it is in the e×act
place that it should be.

SIGN LOCATION
Engineer Jorge Lanz is representing DeMars-Haka, they are wanting to
put a sign up in the island across the street from McDonald's at the
end of the ramp assisting them in getting the rest of the units
rented. Jorge Lanz said that he has looked at it and it won't
interfere with turning. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
the sign location for RiverPointe~ seconded by Director Marra~ and
carried unanimously.
LABORATORY PRICES
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver has set the prices for Labortory
work for any Industry. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater recommends
these prices. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the
Labortory prices~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
VENDOR LICENSE
David Sharp requests a vendors license for a ice cream truck, he did
not appear before the Board~ this was tabled.
DRUG FREE WEEK-END
Mr. Phil Ellis and Mr. Lee Ewing requests that the Board approve the
Drug Free Week-End on June 25, 26, 27~ 1993. It will be in Lancing
Park. We request for Police Patrol, 15th Street and Locust Street be
blocked off, Porta Cans, Utility boxes and junction boxes for
electric, $800.00 to off set the cost. Mayor Parker said that the
Council will have to approve the $800.00, and you will also have to
co-ordinate this with Donna Metzger. Donna said that she will not be
here that weekend, so Les Kavanaugh will help co-ordinate this with
Mr. Ellis.

FESTIVAL SIGHT AREA
Mayor Parker commended Donna Metzger for a good job that she did on
Thunder. There will be a debriefing on May 13, 1993 at 11:30 am. The
clean up situation that the Derby Festival Committee should have done,
wasn't done because they only clean up in certain areas. Donna will
take of this for next year. Rodger Caldwell said that he would like
for the City to go with the Derby Festival Committee and have our own
sound and porta pottis at this end of Riverside Drive. Rodger will
address a letter to the Derby Committee.
VIDEO'S OF JEFFS RIVERFRONT
Major Dennis Simon and Lt. Dave Schmidt went up in the State Police
helicopter and took video's of the Jeff's side of the River during the
Thunder. Mrs. Goodie thanked Mayor Parker for a job well done.

Director Lakeman thanked Donna Metzger~ Lt. Dave Schmidt, Major Dennis
Simon~ George Trembly and Rodger Caldwell for a great job, and
everything looked good.
PROPOSAL
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin said the City sent out a request for
a proposal on the Market Street phase one construction for Engineering
on site inspection~ etc. We received only two responses on this.
Mike Gillenwater has an additional one. We will get together before
next weeks meeting.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM
Donna Metzger had a call from Councilperson Donna Frantz about the
drainage problem that Mrs. Knowland has. Mayor Parker said that
everyone has been out to look at the situation and we are doing
everything that we can, with the money that we have.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:lOa.m.~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
