Parker Jr. called the meeting t6 order at 9:30 and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin: Street Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James Jr.: Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley: Vehicle Maintenance Director Mike Wathen, City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Assistant Superintendent Donnie Poole~ Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger~ Councilperson Bill Wolpert~ Councilperson Andrew Williame III~ Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr~ and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve of. March 39, 1993 as presented, seconded by carried unanimously. the minutes of the meeting Director Matra and Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. BASKETBALE GOAL ON AVONDALE COURT City Attorney Mike Gillenwater talked to Mr. Jim Wright about the basketball goal, and he said that it is a personality problem between the neighbors. Mike recommends to keep the the goal INTERSECTION PORT ROAD AND UTICA PIKE Mayor Parker reported that he talked to the authorties about repaving the intersection of Port Road and Utica Pike and we would go ahead and pave our part. CORY OF PROCEDURES City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that this ~as done at last weeks meeting. BRICKS Director Lakeman reported that Holly Johnson from Mainstreet has no use for the bricks from the Strmuss Hotel and we can put them up for bid. CHAMPION SIGNS Mayor- Parker had George Trembly show a copy of the IHSAA Boys Basketball State Champions". They are with red letters and red border. "Home of the 1993 white background PAGE 2 APRIL 5, 1993 PHONES AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that he has a phone system that was at the old Waste Water Treatment Plant and we are having to pay the lease on it. The Parks Department showed an interest in it. Its a Centrex AT & T Phone System~ we pay $92.00 a month payment~ and there is ~ 1/2 years left. Mike Gillenwater suggested we bring it up before the Park Board. RESIDENTIAL PARKING SIGN Ernestine Holthouser~ Bll Pearl Street~ did not come to the meeting, this was tabled. ROADBLOCKS Jim Kaster representing the American Red Cross wants permission from the Board to set up 2 roadblocks on May 8, 1993 from 9:00am-4:OOpm at Highway 62 and Allison Lane~ and 8th and Spring Street. Mayor Parker said that Highway 62 is not in the City. Fire Chief Jerry Dooley suggested that Hamburg Pike and Dutch Lane would be better than'the Highway 6~ location. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the roadblocks~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. WATER PROBLEM Mr. Ed Garrett a resident at 1505 Duncan Avenue said that he has water problems in his yard. Mayor Parker said that George Trembly will take a look at this and will contact him. RESIDENTIAL PARKING Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that the residents at 622~ and 624 E. Court Ave. have complained about cars front of their residents. up Residential Parking Commissioner Bill Gavin tot from Court Avenue. get back with the Board. COUNCIL MEETING 618, 620~ parking in Chief Elliott recommends that the City put signs up at no cost to them. Building suggested putting an entrance to the parking George Trembly will take a look at this and Mayor Parker said to put the signs up. Mayor Parker wants to remind everyone that the Council Meeting has been changed to 5:30 pm today. MRS. KNOWLAND Mrs Knowland of Magnolia Avenue wants to know if the City has followed up on any of the requests that we had for our territory. Also she has complaints about kids with bee bee guns shooting bottles. Mayor Parker suggested that you call the Police when you see the kids with the guns. PAGE 3 APRIL 5~ 1993 i-HOUR PARKING Police Chief Rick Etliott said that it was brought to his attention that the 1-hour parking signs on Court Avenue can't be seen because they are too high and should be ground level between 2 light standards. George Trembly will put up the signs. LICENSE PLATES Mike Wathen reported the City vehicles. 1993. Mike will be tested. that he is working on the new license plates for Emission testing will be at 9:00am on April sending a letter to the ones that have to be MOWING EQUIPMENT Utilities Director Steve Tolliver needs the Boards approval for purchasing mowing equipment~ which consists of 3 mowers~ 2 weedeaters~ the cost is $5944.00. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the purchase, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. WARRANTY WORK Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that there's a force screen with a rupture in it at and we are getting it repaired by Hall Contracting and its still under warranty. The location of it is Locust Street and Marcus Circle. THUNDER Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger wants to remind everyone that Thunder Over Louisville is next Saturday, and I want to publicly thank Chief Elliott for Lt. Dave Schmidt help me. SAW DUST PILE Administrative Assistant Donna Metzger said that she had a call from Betty Weber Flock about a 1R' pile of saw dust at the Oxygen Supply Co. on Spring Street. Fire Chief Jerry Doo!ey said that he has already talked to the owners and they said that its for horse bedding and will be there only for 5 days. Clark Miles is going to investigate this. There being no further business to come Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made lO:14a.m.~ seconded by Director Marra~ and before the Board of Public the motion to adjourn at carried unanimously.
