OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY MARCH 15~ 1993
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M~
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker~
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Sill Gavin, Street
Commissioner George Trembly, Utility Director Steve Tolliver, Police
Chief Rick Elliott~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ Assistant Fire Chief
Clifton James Jr.~ Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ Vehicle
Maintenance Supervisor Mike Ewton~ Parks Director of Activities Chuck
Branham~ Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, Administrative Assistant
Donna Metzger, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk
Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of March 8~ 1993 as presented: seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~
seconded by Director Marra and carried unanimously.
SEWER PROBLEM
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver and Mayor Parker wants to table this
until they can go over the bid on the sewer problem at 816 E.
Larkspur Drive.
BASKETBALL GOAL
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported that City Attorney Mike
Gi!lenwater recommends to put this on hold for now~ they have received
petitions for not taking the goal downs he needs to study the
situation further.
COLONEL CAB
Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that he talked to Mr. Ken Lower
owner of Colonel Cab about getting a copy of his lease for the
building that he is renting on lOth Street for today's meeting. Mr.
Lower couldn't give us the address. Chief Elliott recommends
referring this to City Attorney Mike Gillenwater to look into it to
see what we can do about his permits. Mayor Parker agreed to this.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver went to the residence of Sammy
Mooreland, 943 E. ?th Street and checked out the drainage problem
complaint. Steve reported that the Moorelands built a garage at the
rear of their property and built it too high causing the yard to
flood. The City should not be held responsible.

BROKEN WINDSHIELD
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that Larry James was in
Louisville with a Wastewater Treatment truck and a rock flew from a
tire and broke the windshield on Mr. Willis~ car. Our insurance won't
cover this mishap, so we need to pay the claim of $217.14. Director
Lakeman made the motion to pay this claim, seconded by Director Matra,
and carried unanimously.
CLAYSBURG AREA PROBLEM
Mrs. Carol Moon a resident of National Avenue requests that National
Avenue from the four way stop to Eastern Blvd. be blocked off, because
of the gangs and young kids with guns. Police Chief Elliott said that
he has been working with Mr. Sates about this problem. Starting April
1, 1993 we will put into operation a plan to help alleviate some of
the problems.
ROADBLOCK
Sandy Locke representing Jeff Little League wants permission to have a
roadblock on Saturday April 3~ 1993 from 9:00-300pm at the
intersection of Dutch Lane and Hamburg Pike, 8th Street and Penn
Streets. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the roadblock,
seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
BANNERS
Janie Andrews~ President of Clack County Arts Association requests a
banner put up for the event on Saturday April 10, 1993 at the
Preservation Station. Street Commissioner George Trembly said the
only place we can put a banner is at the lOth and Spring Street
Railroad Bridge. Director Matra made the motion to approve the
banners, seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried unanimously.
MARCH OF DIMES WALK
Marvin Potter is on the planning committee for the Clark-Scott Walk
for March of Dimes on Saturday April ~4~ 19937 at Clark State Forrest~
Donna Metzger stated that she has already brought this up at the Board
Meeting last week and she has had no takers.
INTERSECTION
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin ~as contacted by Rodney Gross from
Clark Meritime Center requesting that the City help in the cost to
repair the intersection at Port Road and Utica Pike. Bill will get
with them and Street Supervisor Bob Miller and come up with some
estimates, and get back to the Board. It will be blacktop.
COLLASPED SEWER
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver said that the collasped sewer on
Market Street between Locust and Walnut Streets is in need for
Construction before we do the Market Street project. There is
corrigated pipe in the sewer line. Mayor Parker wants to coordinate
this ~ith Jorge Lanz.

RAW SEWAGE
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver had a call from a resident on Goyne
Avenue complaining about raw sewage coming out into the street. I
went and looked at this situation and there are no catchbasins in the
street~ there are suppose to be drainage ditches in the backyards~ but
most have been filled in.
BENEFIT PACKAGES
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that his employees are very
pleased with the benefit package and asked me to mention to the Board
that they appreciate it1 and thanks to the Mayor's Office~ Suzy Nevitt
and Dick Spencer of the Clerk-Treasurers Office.
CITY OLYMPICS
Parks Director of Activities Chuck Branham wante to remind everyone
that the City Olympics~ competition between the City employees will be
coming up on April 3~ 1993, and for them to get their teams together
and give the list to Eric Hedricks at the Fie!dhouse.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:lOa.m., seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
