OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY MARCH 8~ 1993
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Parker,
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection
Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ Street
Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike Gillenwater~ Utility
Director Steve Tolliver~ Police Chief Rick Elliott, Assistant Police
Chief Charles Elder~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooiey, Assistant Fire Chief
Clifton James Jr.~ Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, Vehicle
Maintenance Director Mike Wathen~ Parks Superintendent Rodger
Caldwell, Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman, and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of March 1 1993 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented,
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
SEWER PROBLEM
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that Mr. Stemler was
suppose to get some prices for him on the sewer problem at 816 E.
Larkspur Drive. Steve Tolliver will call Mr. Stemler and get back
with the Board next week.
BASKETBALL GOAL
Mayor Parker asked Mr. Lakeman about the basketball goal on Avondale
Ct.. Bill Gavin has not been up to see if it has been removed. Mayor
Parker received a letter in regards to keeping the goal up. Mike
Gillenwater said that the City can be held relimble if someone gets
hurt. Mike sent a letter to the property owner telling him that it
has to be down by March 10, 1993 or George Trembly will take it down
on March 11, 1993.
COLONEL CAB
Mr. Lower owner of Colonel Cab Co. called Building Commissioner Bill
Gavin to tell him that he is still moving his business Mike
Gillenwater said that we need a copy of the lease when he gets it.
Police Chief Rick Elliott said that he will take care of talking to
Mr. Lower.

PARKING PROBLEM
Louise Dallman, of Dallman Electric of 15B1 Spring Street reported
that their business is having trouble with patrons from the club next
door with parking in their parking lot. Police Chief Elliott
recommend calling a wrecker service and having the cars towed, and the
Police will monitor the area a little closer.
BRIDGE CLOSING
Police Chief Rick Elliott wants 'the Boards approval to close the 2nd.
Street Bridge for ~ events on Saturday March 13, 1993 from 3:30
pm-4:00 pm for the Rhodes City Run and the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The Police will notify the paper. Director Lakeman made the motion to
approve the closing of 8nd Street Bridge, seconded by Director Matra,
and carried unanimouely.
DRAINAGE COMPLAINT
Sammy Moreland a resident at 943 E. 7th Street has a complaint about
the drainage in her back yard. Mayor Parker asked Steve Tolliver to
take a look at this to see if thie is a sewer problem or a personal
problem and get back to the Board.
REPORT FOR PEGGY WILDER
Director Lakeman reported that Councilperson Peggy Wilder is
requesting an activity time report from all Department Heads for every
employee~ a general description on an 8 hour day job.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Director Lakeman reported that the Council wante to put on a Special
Olympics for all Departments on April 39 1993 at ll:OOam. Eric
Hedrick an employee from the Parke Department has put together a real
nice City Cup Competition and the paper ehould be turned in to Eric.
Mayor Parker said that this is not mandatory~ it's just a challenge
between the Departments to show who's best.
LETTER FROM THE RED CROSS
The Red Cross sent a letter to notify everyone that the Blood Drive
will be at the City County Building Annex on March 12, 1993 from
8:00am-l:OOpm at Court and Wall Street.
SNOW REMOVAL
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater is meeting with the Building Authority
in regards to who shovels the sidewalks and cleans the parking lots.

REPLACING THE CITY FLEET
Police Chief Rick Elliott reported that he met with the Council on
replacing the City fleet, We will meet again in the near future to
continue to give them more information.
INTERSECTION
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that they are working on
the intersection at Spring Street and Eastern Blvd. to change it so
the big trucks can make a right hand turn, We are trying to buy
of ground from the owners.
PAVING CRESTVIEW CT.
Street Commissioner George Trembly said that the Gas Company has toter
up Crestview Ct, and will have to pave the street from Zulauf to 8th
Street and will have to pay half of the cost. We will still put this
street on the paving list.
SEWER FOR ANIMAL SHELTER
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that the Animal Shelter
needs to be hooked up to the sewer~ we don't have a place to throw
street sweeps or dirt since the security fence has been put up~ the
septic system is in the way. Mike Gillenwater said that we had
trouble with one resident and that has been resolved now~ and we are
almost ready to hook the Animal Shelter on to the sewer system.
~OMPLAINT
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that he has received two
complaints about stone dumped at a street cut at 1901 Puck Lane by
D.C.& R. Plumbing Co. A lady ran over the pile and hit her head.
George said that he can't get in touch with them~ so George had his
men clean up the stone,
CLAIM
Larry James reported that while a Wastewater Treatment truck was in
Louisville a rock flew off and hit and broke a windshield, and they
want the claim 'paid. Mayor Parker said that he did not know anything
about it, Steve Tolliver will talk to Bob Hammond about this matter.
MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver has received revised maintenance
agreement papers on the generators and wants Mike Gillenwater to read
over them before they are signed.

PROPOSED PERMITS
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reported that he has had questions
about our prosposed permits on our NPDES program. He asked Doug
Rawlston to look into this. Steve received a letter from Doug
Rawlston stating that the EPA admitted making a mistake on the
discharge permits, that the limits were so low that the wastewater was
cleaner than the water we drink.
COLLASPED SEWER
Utilities Director Steve Tolliver reports that Jorge Lanz said that he
thinks that there is a collasped sewer on Market Street between Locust
and Walnut Streets. Our equipment won't do the job and t am asking
approval from the Board to have Thompson Construction of Indianapolis
use their equipment~ the cost will be $3?64.00. Mayor Parker agrees
that it must be done so the Market Street project won't be held up.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve this, seconded by Director
Matra, end carried unanimously.
