Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. In the absence of Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley filled in. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, Street Commissioner George Trembly~ Police Chief Charles Elder~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ Animal Shelter Manager Ed Voyles, Assistant Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Matra made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1994 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Matra made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. LEASE CONTRACT BID The only bid that came in on the property at 6th and Michigan is from NBD Bank. A $210.00 check was received which is 10~ for a one year lease with option for ~ more years. Director Matra made the motion to approve the bid from NBD at 6th and Michigan Avenue for one year with option for ~ more years, seconded by member Jerry Dooley, and carried unanimously~ PEDDLER'S PERMIT Adan Torres, 23103 Nicholson Knob Road, Borden, Indiana is requesting a Peddler's Permit to go door to door selling labels. Mayor Parker explained what Mr. Torres had to do before getting a permit, and after the Police check Chief Elder will bring his recommendations to the Board next week. CORNER OF 8TH AND WATT STREETS Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that he put up R DANGEROUS INTERSECTION signs going East and West on 8th Street because of the complaints about the corner of 8th and Watt Streets. George said that we would be in a bigger mess if we put a stop sign there. Mayor Parker agreed. POLICE PROMOTIONS Police Chief Charles Elder reported that starting January 1~ 1995, there are several promotions that he wants to make~ this is no new money, its replacement of Captain Westerfield and Lt. Delehanty when they retired. There will be a total of 8 promotions, and Chief Elder will have a list of names at the next Board meeting. Member Dooley made the motion to allow Police Chief Elder to proceed with the promotions of 8 people as a result of Captain Westerfield and Lt. Delehanty retiring~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 2 DECEMBER 27~ 1994 Mayor Parker wished everyone a Happy New Year. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety~ Director Matra made the motion to adjourn at 09:40a.m.~ seconded by Director~]~ra~ and carried unanimously.
