OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY DECEMBER 5, 199A
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird called the meeting to order at
9:30 A.M. in the absence of Raymond J. Parker Jr., and on call of the
roll those members present were Personnel and Safety Director Harold
Lakeman~ and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City ~Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike
Gilienwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley,
Temporary Animal Shelter Manager Ed Voyles, City Services Coordinator
Leslie Kavanaugh~ Assistant Parks Superintendent Rick Eitiott,
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Manager
Kendall Coleman~ and Clekk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of

DRAINAGE DITCH AT MAYFAIR APARTMENTS
presented,
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that he talked with Mr. Hughes
owner of the Mayfair Apartments concerning the drainage ditch behind
the apartment complex. Mike told Mr. Hughes that the City would do
nothing until next year. Mr. Hughes offered to pay $t~500.00 only if
the work is done this year.
PEDDLER ' S PERMIT
Tom Meneou is requesting a peddler~s permit for his 17 year old son
Kevin to go door to door selling LA Law Enforcers. Police Chief
Charles Elder said that he knows the Meneou family and Mr. Meneou is a
State Police Officer and he is recommending to go ahead and give the
permit to Kevin. Director Matra made the motion to approve the
peddler~s permit for Kevin Meneou at the recommendation of Police
Chief Elder, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously.

CHRISTMAS TOUR AND UTICA PIKF
Keith Staton of Jeff-Clark Preservation reported that the Christmas
Tour will take place this Sunday December 11, 1994 from 1:00-6:00 P.M.
There will horse drawn carnages from the Preservation Station to
Warder Park down Spring Street. Also Mr. Staton reported that Ed and
Joan Crooks home is on the tour and there is no parking except on
Kewanna Drive and he is requesting that Utica Pike be made one lane to
allow parking on one side of it. Police Chief Charles Elder said that
it would be too dangerous to allow that. Chief Elder said that he
would try to work something out with Mr. Staton. Les Kavanaugh
suggested that Mr. Staton talk with Mr. Stevenson at Hoosier Valley to
see if he would lend a couple of vans and transport the people to the
Crooks home. Donna Baird said that she would call Mr. Stevenson and
coordinate this with Mr. Staton.

Harold Lakeman received a thank you note from Jim Wheatley who
coordinated the United Way Drive thanking Donna Baird and Harold
Lakeman for their help and support of the 1994 United Fund.
JINGLE BELL CHASF
Police Chief Charles Elder is requesting that the Second Street Bridge
be closed on Saturday December 11, 1994 at 8:30-10:30 A.M. for the
Jingle Bell Chase Run. Director Matra made the motion to approve the
closing of the Second Street Bridge on Saturday December 11, 1994,
seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously.
CITY EASEMENT
City Engineer Bob Miller received a call from Dick Scott Architect for
ACBL asking for permission to beautify the city easement next to Jeff
Boat on Utica Pike with flowers and shrubs~ Walnut Ridge will maintain
it. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the request to
beautify the city easement next to Jeff Boat, seconded by Director
Matra, and carried unanimously.
Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton reported that he and a senior sweeper
operator went to Waco Texas for training on the new street sweeper.
Mike was very impressed with their facilities and schooling.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
09:55a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
