Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at
and on call Of the roll those members present were

Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Temporary Animal Shelter Manager Ed Voyles~
City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Assistant Parks
Superintendent Rick Elliott, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird,
Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of October 24, 1994 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
SWEEPER BIDS AWARDED
awarded to:
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that the sweeper bid was
H.H. Hooper Machine Co.~ Inc.

Goodlettsville, Tn. 3?0?2
The sweeper is a 1995 Ford Cargo Truck~ CF?O00~ Tymco Sweeper.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the recommendation of our
Street Commissioner George Trembly~ seconded by Director Marra~ and
carried unanimously.
CAB COMPANY PERMITR
Police Chief Charles Elder said he and City Attorney Mike Gillenwater
met with Mr. Potter after last weeks meeting. They did not come to
this meeting and it was suggested bo table this until next week.
RESIDENT PARKING SIGN AT FALKENSTEIN RESIDENCE
Police Chief Charles Elder reported on the resident parking at 809 E.
Court Avenue. Chief Elder sent Sgt. Monihon to talk with the
residents and he recommends to have a resident parking sign installed
for the Falkenstein residence. Director Lakeman made the motion to
approve the resident parking sign, seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously. '
BIKE TRAIL
Parks Board President Ed Voyles wants to table the bike trail for Carl
Reed until after the next Parks Board meeing on November 143 1994.

FIRST TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported he received a call from a
woman from the First Trinity Baptist Church concerning a sidewalk in
front and along side the Church that has to be replaced and their half
would be $1~000.00 and she is wanting us to do something about it.
Bill told her it would be up to the Council. Mayor Parker asked if we
do this for Churches and other public buildings~ Bill said no. Mayor
Parker suggested that she get in contact with her Councilperson.
VACATING ALLEY

Commissioner Bill Gavin has a request from Dave Renfroe about
an alley that runs between his property~ no one else is
by it. It will have to go before the Council.
THANK YOU
Mayor Parker wants to thank everyone who helped in anyway with the
Halloween in the Park on Friday night. There were approximately
107000 people there~ it was a tremendous success. The Park was
totally cleaned up before midnight. Mayor Parker told Rick Elliott
that he did a good job, Rick said that it was the employees who did
the great work.
HIRING 2 POLICE OFFICERS
Police Chief Charles Elder wants the Boards approval on replacing two
Officers that retired, they are Rick Elliott and Steve Westerfield.
We had a hiring process and the two people that we decided on are
William E. Hedrick, and Leslie K. Kavanaugh. Director Matra made the
motion to approve the hiring of William E. Hedrick~ and Leslie K.
Kavanaugh to replace the two retiring Police Officers, seconded by
Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously.
ROADBLOCK
Police Chief Charles Elder said that he contacted Steve Kempf about
the complaints he had concerning the JYFL roadblocks~ where the kids
were collecting on busy roads. Steve was not aware of this.
PLAZA DRIVE BARRACADE
City Engineer Bob Miller has a request to have the barracade taken
down on Plaza Drive that was to keep the big trucks from using it.
Richard Stemler wants the barracade down because the trucks are
cutting through his yard. Bob will make a sign stating no heavy
trucks on Plaza Drive and take the barracade downs the houses are
about 95% built in the subdivision. Police Chief Charles Elder said
that he received a call from a lady on Brim complaining about when the
nursing home get deliveries or an ambulance pulls in they block Brim
and the residents can't get through. Chief Elder talked with the
nursing home employees and they will talk to the drivers. Director
Matra made the motion to approve to open up the barracade and put up
the proper signage~ seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried
uanimously.

City Engineer Bob Miller reported that he will be going to
Indianapolis tomorrow to see what impact 1-65 will have on
Jeffersonville. Bob thinks it will have a great impact on
Jeffersonville, and he will have a report for the Board next week.
VIKING DRIVE
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported Viking Drive is closed and
the barracade is up. Administrative Assistant Donna Baird suggested
that they should let the residence know that Viking Drive is closed.
George said that he would talk to the man who owns the apartments.
HYDRAULIC SCHOOL
Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton reported that four Maintenance
employees attended hydraulic school, they are Mike Ewton, Mike Havens,
Dave Turner and Jim Smith, this was voluntary. Mayor Parker thanked
him for this.
VIKING DRIVE CLOSED
Fire Chief Jerry Dooley has received several complaints about the
closing of Viking Drive, which they had no control of this because of
it being private property.
AGILITY TEST
Fire Chief Jerry Dooley reported on the Firefighters Agility Test that
was given last Saturday. There were 48 invitations sent out,
people showed up for the test. Twenty four passed. There are no
openings~ the agility test is good for one year.
Mary Goode said that the Halloween in the Park was wonderful and she
thinks that they should thank Terry Stackhouse for all her work.
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird explained that she was already
recognized last Friday night.
Mayor Parker brought up the vacating of the alley for Dave Renfroe~
Director Matra made the motion to vacate the alley for Dave Renfroe to
be approved upon contingent upon the necessary legal information
prepared by our City Attorney and presented to our Council at a
appropriate date, seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried
unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
lO:OOa.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
