OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY OCTOBER 3, 1994
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, Sewage Office Manager Bob
Goldman, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Elder~
Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James, Jr., Temporary Animal Shelter
Manager Ed Voyles~ City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh,
Assistant Parks Superintendent Rick Etliott, Administrative Assistant
Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, Clerk and
Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis.

SAFETY PROBLEMS AT MAPLE STREET SCHOOl
Police Chief Charles Elder reported that Lt. Schmidt talked to Cathy
Graninger, Principal of Maple Street School. They would like for all
the parents to let their children off on the side of the building
instead of the front. Lt. Schmidt will monitor this for a while and
report on it later.
HOWARD STEAMBOAT YARD SALE
Yvonne Knight, representing Howard Steamboat Museum is requesting
permission for a yard sale on Park Place median on Saturday October
15, 1994 from 10:00-4:00 p.m. It's a neighborhood yard sale and some
of the proceeds goes to the Museum. Director Lakeman made the motion
to approve the yard sale, seconded by Director Marra, and carried
unanimously.
CLOSING OF STREET
City Engineer Bob Miller reported that Ron Kurtz of Bridgepoint
Apartments is requesting to close the street Viking Court at the end
of Mockingbird Drive or the City will have to take it over, this
street has never been dedicated. Bob talked to the City Attorney and
he said to let them close it. Mayor Parker said that they need to
take this under advisement. Mayor Parker also asked Bob Miller and
the Fire and Police Departments go and take a look at this. After
much discussion this was tabled until further notice.

CONCERT AT THE OVERLOOK
Betty Moore~ representing Ray Parrella coordinator on this project
because he's out of town until Wednesday. Betty is requesting
permission to have a free Concert on the Overlook on Saturday October
22, 1994 from t:O0-4:00P.M. The show will feature Bill Monroe and his
Bluegrass Show, the promoter is Ogden and Sunshine Promotions. The
Downtown Merchants will participate with the food~ beer and wine area.
There will be several thousand people, and they are requesting Police
help for safety. City Engineer Bob Miller said there is road
construction along Riverside Drive and Spring Street. City
Clerk-Treasurer Dick Spencer suggested Warder Park. Ms. Moore said
that the could be considered and will get with Mr. Parrella on this
problem.
Mayor Parker was called out on an emergency and turned
over to his Administrative Assistant Donna Baird.
FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL

Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James Jr. reported on the new hiree Rick
VanGilder~ and the retirement of Ronald Collins. Rick has met all
requirements and will start October 1~ 1994. Ronald retired on
September 30, 1994.
~AFETY AWARD
Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman read a letter from
Indiana Public Employer's Plan stating that the City Of Jeffersonville
won a Safety Award for the period of July 1993 to June 1994.
CITY AUCTION REPORT
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that they sold every item
at the City Auction on Saturday. They made approximately $8~352.00.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
9:55a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
