OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 1994
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird called the meeting to order at
9:30 A.M.~ in the absence of Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., and on call
of the roll those members present were Personnel and Safety Director
Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton~ Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley,
Temporary Animal Shelter Manager Ed Voyles, City Services Coordinator
Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole, Parks Assistant
Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall
Coleman~ and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of

RESIDENTIAL PARKING
~-~ Police Chief Charles Elder reported that he has denied the residential
~ parking sign for Dale and Karen Wilson. He feels they can park in the
f i driveway and they also have a garage they could use. Director Lakeman
.... made the motion to deny the residential parking sign for Dale and
Karen Wilson, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
SOLICITORS PERMIT
Jason Fresh, 27 Carlotia requested a solicitor's permit, he was not in
attendance.
BLOOD DRIVE
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported that the The American
Red Cross is bringing their Temporary Blood setup to the City-County
Building on Friday September 23, 1994 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in
the Officers Training Area Rm ~249.

NOTICE TO BIDDER~
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that he has a Notice To
Bidders that he has prepared at the request of Street Commissioner
George Trembly for a Street Sweeper Vacuum Type. Mike said that he
used the specifications that he received from Mr. Trembly, and the
bids have to be received on Monday October 17~ 1994, the bids will be
advertised on Wednesday September 28, 1994 and Wednesday October 5,
1994. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the Notice to
Bidders on a Street Sweeper Vacuum Type~ seconded by Director Matra,
and carried unanimously.
STEAMBOAT DAYS FESTIVAL REPORT
Police Chief Charles Elder reported on the Steamboat Days Festival~
said that there were 14 arrests which was a normal weekend.

City Engineer Bob Miller reported that on Thursday September
another phase of Utica Pike will be paved.
MEETINGS

Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole reported that today's Board meeting
will be his last for a while, he is going to have back surgery~
Assistant Superintendent Rick Elliott will be attending.
AUCTION
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that on Saturday October
1, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wastewater Treatment Plant off of
Pennsylvania Avenue there will be a City Auction on the Police cars.
George said there will be a miscellaneous section and anyone who has
anything to auction off can do so.
MEETING POSTING~
ADA Director Harold Lakeman reported that when the City Clerk
Treasurers and City Attorney's Office post meeting signs in the
buildings they are posted too high for anyone in a wheelchair or
disabled person from reading it.
~OMMENTS
Mary Goode made some comments on the cleanup of Spring Street~ she
said that when she left Spring Street on Saturday night during the
Steamboat Days Festival~ she said that the streets were in the worse
shape she has ever seen, but when she arrived on Sunday morning the
street were the most beautiful street she has ever seen in her life.
She also said that all you had to do was to yell for a Policeman if
you need one, the Fire Department was very visible. Mary said she was
very proud of our City. It was a good festivals Mr. Trembly did a
good job. Mary said that the ADA porta pots were not visible. Harold
Lakeman and Donna said that they will discuss this at their next
Fesitval meeting.

There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
9:45a.m.~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
