OF THE CITY OF JEFFERGONVtLLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY MAY 23,1994
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr.~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, City
Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Interim Parks Manager Donnie
Poole, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Interim Wastewater
Treatment Manager Phil Thompson, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard
Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of May, 9, 1994 as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.

William Saurer spoke in regards to the hedge problem and said the
problem had not been resolved. Attorney Gillenwater said he has
spoken with the person and he has agreed to cooperate by trimming back
the bushes this weekend.

CHERRY CREEK CLARIFICATION
City Attorney Gillenwater recommended making a motion that when Cherry
Creek Condo Association brings their pumping station up to the city's
specifications, the city will accept and assume responsibility of the
pumping station and it's maintenance. Director Lakeman made the
motion to approve this, seconded by Director Matra, and carried
unanimously.

JEFF GRC BOOSTER CLUB PARADE
Sandy Locke with the Booster Club asked permission to have a parade at ~
9:00 A.M. on June 4th. The parade will assemble at ?th and Wall at ~
8:00 A.M. Director L~keman made the motion to approve, seconded by

INDUSTRIAL WATER RECYCLING
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that recently more asbestos
has been found at the old sewer plant. He suggested that the city go
ahead and remove the remaining asbestos for a cost of $1~860.00~ which
was the lowest bid, and then contact PDR to recover this cost.
Director Matra made the motion to approve, seconded by Director
Lakeman, and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT PARKING PROBLEM
Mr. and Mrs. Charles White of 1301 Blackwood Court spoke regarding a
neighbor who is parking cars in front of his residence causing
problems for him. Police Chief Elliott said he would look into the
situation and report back next Monday.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM ON NACHAND LANE
Dorothy Gross , a resident on Nachand Lane spoke in regards to a water
leak presumably caused by the water company. City Engineer Bob Miller
is going to investigate this and find out what was done wrong and then
go to the water company. City Clerk Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr.
suggested that she call the Director of Consumer Affairs for help on
this.

BUDGETS
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported that scheduling for
budgets need to be completed. Most departments have signed up but
some haven't.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM
Bob Waiz reported a problem at 1545 E. Tenth Street with Long John
Silver's parking lot drainage. He said it comes across onto his
apartment complex driveway and tears it up. City Engineer Bob Miller
says he has looked at it and says it's not really adequate but it's a
natural drainage. Bob Miller sees no alternative on this matter.
Mayor Parker asked that cleaning the drain be looked into and then get
back with Mr. Waiz.

STREET STRIPING
Street Commissioner George Trembly asked for approval to double stripe
3 streets. They are Chestnut Street~ Eighth Streets and Plank Road.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, seconded by Director
Matra, and carried unanimously.
