Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Chief Rick Elliott~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh: Interim Parks Manager Donnie Poole, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Interim Wastewater Treatment Manager Phil Thompson, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Lynne Kempf. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of May, 8~ 199~ as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING AT 18~5 WALPOLE DRIVE Chief Elliott reported on the parking problems at 18~5 Walpole Drive. {-~ He recommends granting the signs but waiving the fees for 8 resident parking signs there. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, i .. seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING AT 601E. CHESTNUT STREET Chief Elliott reported on the parking problem at 601 E. Chestnut Street at the residence of Mr. Byrnes. Chief Elliott said Mr. Byrnes in his opinion has ample parking space. He recommended denying this request. Director Matra made the motion to deny the request, seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried unanimously. A~NN'S ON THE RIVER VENDOR PERMIT Mr. Coomer of Ann,s On The River is requesting a vendors permit to set up a refreshment stand at the court house during lunch hours. Mayor Parker advised that this matter be brought before the Parks Board. Clerk Treasurer C. Richard Spencer said Mr. Coomer is checking with the Commissioners on this also. THREE WAY STOP AT CLEARSTREAM AND PEBBLEBROOK City Engineer Bob Miller reported on putting a three~-way stop at Clearstream and Pebblebrook. Chief Elliott recommends doing a traffic count there before approving. Page Ma~ 9, STREET SIGN APPROVAL Building Commissioner Bill Gavin asked for approval on street signs for Port Road, Loop Road, Port Road and Utica Pike, and Loop Road and Utica Pike. Director Matra made the motion to approve, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. MAIN STREET HEDGE COMPLAINT Roselle Amos addressed the board about a hedge needing trimming on Main Street. She said it poses a danger to pedestrians and drivers. City Attorney Gillenwater has attempted calling the responsible party but has had no luck getting him. An enforcement letter is being sent out giving him 5 days to respond. SEWER TIE-IN Building Commissioner Gavin addressed the Board on a request by Schy and Andres Builders for permission to tie in to our sewers at 5819 Hamburg Drive for an office building. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. STREET NAME APPROVALS Building Commissioner Gavin asked for street name approvals for Northside Church of Christ. They are: Brookshire Drive and Child's Place. Director Matra made the motion to approve, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. UTICA PIKE City Engineer Bob Miller reported a request by Contractor Joe Reschar starting this week to close sections of Utica Pk. for 8 weeks to do second phase work on water lines. Director Lakeman made the motion to approved seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. SPRINKLER SYSTEM Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton reported that the the garage is back on line and operational. sprinkler system at LETTER OF THANKS Mayor Parker reported on getting a Church thanking the police and fire during the fire. nice letter from Christ Gospel departments for a ~ob well done Page 3 May 9, 1994 NEW POLICE CARS Chief Elliott reported on going to Connersville to pick up seven new police cars. He invited any department heads to come down to take a look at them. BUDGETS Administrative budgets are due Assistant Donna Baird reminded everyone that next Monday, May 16th. the APPROVAL FOR PARKING SPACES Clerk Treasurer C. Richard Spencer recommended formally approving 3 parking spaces for Mike Drury on Wall Street and Chestnut Street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:15 a.m. ~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
