OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY APRIL 4~ 1994
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr., SeWage Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Street Commiseioner George Trembly filled in for Personnel and Safety
Director Harold Lakeman in his absense.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Engineer Bob
Miller, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Plant Superintendent Larry
James, Police Chief Rick Elliott, Assistant Fire Chief Clifton James
~Jr., Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley~ City Services Coordinator
~Leslie Kavanaugh~ Parks Superintendent Rodger Caldwell, Administrative
Assistant Donna Baird, and Clerk Alice Davis.
SIGNS FOR ST. PAUL~S CHURCH
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported that he talked with Rev.
Susan Mills concerning the directional signs for St. Paul's Church.
George said that the locations for the City are alright, she is
checking with the State for the location Walnut and 10th Street and
she will get back with George.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM AT ~12 CENTER STREET
City Engineer Bob Miller met with Mrs. Dallman about the drainage
problem in front of her home at ~I2 Center Street. Bob said that it
is a individual problem and they should put the rock along the road
themselves.
SPEED SIGNS
Misty Eads, 114 E. Park Place is requesting speed signs in her
neighborhood. She w~s not in attendance, this was t~abled.
ROD RUN AND BURN OUT
Claude Rottet representing 9th Street Pub is requesting that Watt
vStreet between 9th Street and Court Avenue be closed for a rod run and
burn out on Saturday June 4, 1994 from noon-?:3Opm. The proceeds will
~go to the Crusade for Children. Mayor Parker asked Police Chief Rick
,~Elliott to investigate this and bring his recommendations back to the
Board next week.
IPSP INSURANCE
~olice Chief Rick Elliott is requesting approval for IPSP insurance to
conduct pre-employment screening tests for the Police Department. The
~ension board will absorb the cost this year. Director Matra made the
botion to accept the recommendation of Police Chief Elliott on IPSP
insurnace~ seconded by member George Trembly, and carried unanimously.

SEWER TAP IN ON HAMBURG PIKF
Kareo Ready Hamburg Pike is requesting for a sewer tap in on Hamburg
Pike in the twe mile fringe. Building Commissioner explained to Mrs.
Read that she would have to sign a wavier giving up her right to
memonstrate if the City would annex that area into the City. Director
Matra made the motion to approve the sewem tap in contingent upon
signing the necessary documents~ seconded by member George Trembly~
and carried unanimously.
RECYCLING CONTRACT
Mayor Parker presented the contract for

City Engineer Bob Miller reported on the drainage problem on
Mockingbird and Whipperwill Drives. Bob said that he shot grades,
themes a catch basin in the street~ and the blacktop is very high at
Whipperwill and Mockingbird Drives. There should be a concrete swale
put in, and the driveway cuts that have blacktop and plastic pipe will
have to come out for it to drain right. It would cost $1~000.00 to
put in the concrete swale. Mayor Parker said that they should get
together with Jorge Lanz about this problem. Bob said that Mr.
Montgomery is here to see that we are doing something about this.

Police Chief Rick Elliott wants to thank the Fire Department and
particular Mir. Randy Leverett on behalf of the Police Department for
helping solve the arson at Old Salts Marine.

CULTURAL AWARENESS SEMINAR
Administmative Assistant Donna Baird said that the Cultural Awareness
Seminar will be on April 13, 1994 from 8:00am-18:30pm in the Mayor's
Conference Room.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
lO:05a.m., seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
