Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 AIM,, and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. 'Parker Jr., and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Mayor Parker appointed Police Chief Rick Elliott to the Board to fill in for Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman in his absence. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman t-Mike Ewton, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Manager Jan Wheatley, City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks ~uperintendent Rodger Caldwell, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Councilperson Barbara Wilson and Clerk Alice Davis.. Director Matra made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of January 31, 1994 as presented, seconded by Police Chief Elliott and carried unanimously. Director Matra made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Police Chief Elliott and carried unanimously. Director Matra made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Police Chief Eltiott and carried unanimously. DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE COMPLAINT Norma Leppert, 909 E. Market Street has a complaint about the driveway entrance to her yard not being restored when they put in the new curbs on Market Street. Mayor Parker said that he will have the Police Department investigate this and he will talk to Engineer Jorge Lanz and get back with her. STREET DEDICATION Charles Igert, 3042 Wooded Way is on the Board of Directors of Cherry Creek Townhouses and is requesting various City services since they pay City taxes and own their condo. Mr. Igert would like for the City to dedicate the street Wooded Way. City Engineer Bob Miller said that ~they would have to core the street to see if it meets the City's standards. Councilperson Barbara Wilson waeat ~the Board Meeting ~aying that she thinks that the City owes them the services since they are paying taxes. Les Kavanaugh said that he would walk them through the different Departments after the meeting. ~ City Attorney Mike Gillenwater explained that the reason the City did not ~dedicate the ]street after it was annexed is that the developer wantedit to stay ~rivate and the City had no right to go in there. PAGE 8 FEBRUARY 77 1994 SIGNAGE FOR DOWNTOWN JEFFERSONVILLE James Urban, Project Manager for Jeff Main Street is requesting for signs be put up coming from the Interpretive Center saying Welcome to Jeffereonville, and where the downtown shopping district is located. ~ The location that Mr. Urban wanted is in Clarksville. Street. Commissioner George Trembly said Jeffersonville City limits starts' under the Second Street Bridge. Mayor Parker suggested that we put ~ the sign at the corner of Missouri Avenue and Market Street and he requested that Mr. Urban get the signs at the same place that we get SALARY ORDINANCE Street Commissioner George Trembly is requesting that Vehicle Maintenance Employee Michael Havens be granted .50 an hour increase in salary. Mr. Haven lost some of his hourly wages due to disciplinary action. His present job performance has improved to warrant this action. (see copy) COMPLAIN~ Administrative Assistant Donna Baird is bringing a complaint before the Board for Mr. Paul Beeler, 1100 E. 9th Street, he could not attend this meeting. The complaint is about inoperable cars and fire wood. The Police Department has tagged the cars and they took them off. Les Kavanaugh said that back in October he tagged the cars for Bill Gavins Office. Bill Gavin said that he will get in touch with them. THANK YOU LETTER Mayor Parker received and read a letter from the McCullough Fire Department thanking Fire Chief Jerry Dooley and our Fire Dep~rtment for helping them with the fire and rescue on January 81~ '1994 in Oak Park Subdivision. CURBS PAINTED YELLOW City Engineer Bob Miller received a request from St. Augustine's Church to paint the curbs yellow in front of the Church, 80' on Chestnut and 80' on Locust Street. Director Matra made the motion t~ > approve the painting of curbs for St. Augustine's Church request,. seconded by Police Chief Elliott~ and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Matra made the motion to adjourn at lO:25a.m., seconded by Police Chief Elliott, and carried unanimously.
