HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-06-1995 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY NOVEMBER 6, 1995 Mayor Raymond J~ Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Lt. Danny Rodden , Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Maintenance Manager Mike Ewton, Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles, City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Kendall Coleman, and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made th~ motion ~0 approve the'm£nutes of the meeting of Octobe~ 30, 1995 as ~ p~s~nfed,' §ecohded b~ Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented, seconded by Direc~0r Marts and"~a~rl~d ~an~mously. SEWER LINE EXTEN~IONFOR'~JERRY"BOTT Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman reported that Mr. Bott who is requesting a sewer line extension wanted to know if gravity feed sewer can be provided on' I~catio~ of Charlestown-New Albany Pike. We can go down Hamburg Pike to the intersection and go East on Charlestown-New Albany Pike, but we do not fund them. Manager Coleman said that he will talk to Mr. B~t to see if he is going to fund this. Mayor Parker said Mr. Bott probably doesn't realize the cost thats incurred in gravity feed type process, when asking he was under the impression that the City funds ~hings l~ke that. SEWER UTILITY CHARGES FOR INDUBTRIAL WATER RECYCLING city Attorn~ey Mik'~ GillenWater S'~ated that'he~h~ talked with Manager Coleman about the Sewer Utility' Charges that are being charged to Industrial Water Recycling Co. Mike reported that he thinks Industrial Water Recycling should be charged out of City Users rates becaUse they bring sewage in frsm out of Town. City Attorney Gillenwater said he recommends to the Board to start charging them the out of City Users rates and to send them a letter advising them they will be charged this amount in the future and they will go back and adjust their billing in the past and give them 90 days to catch up before we access them a penality. Mayor Parker asked Manager Coleman to take care of this. Director Lakeman made them motion to approve sending Industrial Water Recycling Co. a letter stating they will have to pay Out Of City Users rates and pay a adjusted billing for the past, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 2 NOVEMBER 6, 1995 THANK YOU Animal Shelter Director ~E~ V0yles wants to thank Tom KemPf, Bill Weidner, Mike Davis, Frank Decker, Charlie Hoehn and Grant Oakes for the good Job they did getting the building built for the drop cages last week, few things have to be done to finish this, Director Voyles said the Shelter paid for some of the materials, Sellersburg Lumber donated some of the lumber. ~Mayor parker,said he will send out letter of thanks to each of the volunteers.~ STREET CLOSURE City Engineer Bob Miller is requesting for Roosevelt Drive be closed for approximately a couple of hours today. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the closing of Roosevelt Drive for a couple of hours today, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. STREET LIGHT AT 2204 UTICA PIKE City Engineer Bob Miller has a street light at 2204 Utica Pike. he said it warrants a light. approve the street light at 2204 Utica Pike, seconded Matra, and carried unanimously. OVERTIME AND COMPTIME REQUEST Administrative Assistant, Donna Baird reported the overtime and comptlme requests are almos% in, ~nly a couple are still out. When they are all in Donna will give them to Councilperson Frantz. CHOICE PROGRAM FROM JEFFERSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL request from Susan Robertson for a Engineer Miller said he measured and Director Lakeman made the motion to by Director Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported the City is participating in the Choice Program from Jeffersonville High School. Donna introduced ~oy Osborne who will be working on the 4th floor. Mayor Parker said he will be looking forward working with him. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 09:45a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
