Director Lakeman made the motioh"to apprOVe the minutes of the meeting

Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented,

STREET LIGHT 200 BLK OF E. PARK PLACE
City Engineer Bob Miller reported that he
200 blk. of E. Park Place where Mr. Gaumann lives and he recommends
denying the request for a 'stree~i~ight Th'ere is 340'" lhstea~ 0f 600'
between each of the 3 street lights. Mayor Parker~ asked Bob to send
Mr. Gaumann a letter in response letting him know that we did
investigate this. Mayor Parker suggested that B'0~' and George T~embly
take a look at the trees and see if thg~ are on City easement and if

VACATINGAN ALLEY
' Attorney ~ile~"MOrris, ~fe~'~e~nfing Wyand°t is requesting t6 vacate an
alley, a portion of Pennsylvania Avenue, that's adjacent to the
property that Wyandot owns. Atty. Morris said this alley has been
fenced off for more then 10 years and is 30'x200'. The utilitieS'have
been contaqted, the gas and water companies have objections and the
electric..comPanY will check farfherl 'CitY Engineer Miller and Fire

CDL POLICY
Street Commissioner Trembly stated that starting on January 1, 1996 we
fall under the Federal law for drivers who drive vehicles in excess of
26,000 lbs. and these people will have to have a CDL and under the
Federal requirement we have to have a drug and alchol testing program
se5 up and all drivers receive training before January 1, 1996. There
is a contract with Mid State Toxicologist that needs to be signed
which will take care of strictly the CDL drivers. George would like
to include also all in this falling under our policy for Drug and
Alchol the remaining employees in the Sanitation, Vehicle Maintenance,
Street Department. Mayor Parker said that he thinks this is
commendable. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the contract
for the drug and alchol testing for CDL drivers with the anticipation
of doing all other employees under his Jurisdiction, seconded by
Director Matra, and carrled unanimously.
SEWER LINE EXTENSION
Jerry Bott is reques~%ng to extend sewers to the N. corner of Hamburg
Pike and Charlestown and New Albany Pike for the Quaker State Oil
Change business, across from the..~Da.lry Mart that Mr. Bott operates.
Manager Coleman will get with Jacobi Toombs and Lanz concerning the
elevation. Manager Coleman said he will come back next week with hls
recommendations.

HALLOWEEN IN THE PARE-
ParRs superinter{d~,~t -Ric~'. Elliott ~report~d on Halloween in the Park
last Friday night., .There were about 3000 people before the rain came.
Rick said that it was a success due To the help from the Department
Heads and Downtown Merchants.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Parks Superintendant Rick Elliott reported that on the Saturday
afternoon basketball league, the Parks Department beat the F.O.P.
team. There will be a rematch on December 2, 1995 if anyone
interested.
ANIMAL SHELTER
Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles reported that the Animal Shelter had
another successful weekend at Riverfalls Mall. Also Tom Kempf and a
group of volunteers will be at the Shelter on Wednesday to build drop
cages.

ROAD CLOSURE
City Engineer Bob Miller is requesting to close Wall Street at the
floodwall and Market Street on Tuesday because of a water problem on
Wall Street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the closing
of Wall Street, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
AGILITY TEST FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire Chief Dooley reported that the agility test for the Fire
Department will be on Tuesday at New Albany. Practice was last week.
INJURY ON RIVERSIDE DR.
Administrative Assistant Baird reported that a lady came to her office
last in regards to a spike she fell on and in~ured her cheekbone she
also broke her glasses, the spike was covered with leaves and she
could not see it. All she wants is to recoup the charges for her
glasses, she did not go to a Doctor. The location is behind the old
raidroad bridge on Mulberry Street behind the apartment buildings
towards the floodwalt, the Waiz property. Commissioner Trembly will
take care of the spike and will see if the City is responsible. Mayor
Parker said that after we find out the facts then we need to call her.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:10a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
