HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-16-1995 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY OCTOBER 16, 1995 Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9~30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. ~arker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra, Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Glllenwater, SeWage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Maintenance Manager Mike Ewton, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Kendall Coleman, and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of October 9, 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. SOLICITOR'S PERMIT Police Chief Charles Elder reported on the solicitor's permit for Nancy Voyles. Chief Elder did an investigation and recommends giving Mrs. Voyles the permit. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the solicitors permit at the recommendation of Chief Elder, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. YOUTH FOOTBALL ROADBLOCK Steve Kempf, representing Youth Football Association did not appear before the Board, this was tabled. THANK YOU Director Lakeman thanked everyone for all the calls, visits and cards while he was ill. SAFETY AWARD Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman said second straight year the City of Jeffersonville safety award. that this is the has received the PARKING" "NO SIGNS AT JEFFERSONVILLE NURSING HOME, BRIM DRIVE Street Commissioner George Trembly reporting on the no parking signs on Brim Drive next to the Jeffersonville Nursing Home. Commissioner Trembly said he sent a letter (see copy) to Beverly Enterprise Inc. in Milwaukee, Wi. about the lot the developer of the housing development behind the Nursing Home gave them for parking, and he has gotten no reply. Commissioner Trembly recommends installing the "no parking" signs on one side of the street. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve putting up the "No Parking" signs on Brim Drive, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 2 OCTOBER 16, 1995 There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 09:40a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. Street Commissionem Re?emenDs: JeFFersonville Nursing Home - I720 E. ~th Street JeFFarsonville, Indiana 47130 This nursing home is situated on the corner of 8th Street and Brim Drive in this city. A housing development was built at the end eR Brim Drive. The developer donated one lot in the rear o~ the nursing home for a parking lot to allow people visiting and working at the nursing home to park. This would allow access ts the houses on Brim Orive. The City Engineer, Bob Miller hms been working with the nursing home to develop the lot. We are receiving to many complaints from the residents that they can not get through this street because vehicles are parked on both sides oF the street. Emergency equipment cannot get through this street. The directors oF the nursing home have been advised that the city will place "No Parking" signs on one side oF the street
