ParKer'Jr2' called the ~eetlng to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayo~ Raymond J. Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were~ Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, '.'Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Assistant Police Chief Charles Thompson, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Director Ed Voylesv City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman, Councilperson Barbara Wilson, and Clerk Alioe Davis. Directbr Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes oft'he meeting of August 14, 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Mayor Parker welcomed Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman back from his illness. RESIDENT PARKING 317 MEIGS AVENUE Assistant Police Chief Charles Thompson reported on the resident parking at 317 Meigs Avenue for Ann May McComas at the request of Terry Curtis. Assistant Chief Thompson said that it getting worked on and probably will be a handicap parking sign. STOP SIGN AT PARK PLACE AND CRESTVIEW · ' ..... Kent Steele is requesting ~ 32w~'st6P' "at'"Park pl'a~e~ 'ahd crestView because of the Masonic Home being built there, and soon there will be more traffic. Mayor Parker explained to Mr. Steele that the police will have to investigate this and bring their recommendations back to the Board next week. Colleen Fisher, requested~% s%W~r tap-in was not present at the Board Meeting and this was tabled. ".".' ~. ~' ..... ~ ~ · CHERRY CREEK CONDOS Charles Igert, represehting Cherry Creek Condo~ AssOciation introduced Mr. HoWard Angel and Jack"'"~Wright WhO alSO' represent the Association are appearing before the~oard'¢ohcernlng the twice a week garbage pick-up by R~mPke.- Mr. ~geFt said the Association has received a bill for $853.28 and they don t ~nderstand why they received it, Mr. Steve Deaton representing Rumpke also appeared before ~Board.~ Mayor Parker asked Mr. Deaton to address the Board. Mr. Deaton introduced Tom Tremble, sales representative for Rumpke. Mr. Deaton and Mr. Tremble discussed and explained the different sizes of the containers and of PAGE 2 AUGUST 21, 1995 costs. Commissioner Trembly said the letter April 11, 1994 stated that the City will pay for one pick-up per week with the additional services to be covered by the Cherry Creek Condominium Association. (see letter) Councilperson Wilson asked about individual trash cans being used. Mr. Igert said they could use them as long as it does not cost any more money. There was discussion on this. Mr. Tremble said the S853.28 is the monthly charge on 16- 2 yd. containers, picked up twice a week. The representatives from the Association discussed volume. Mayor Parker said that you want the one time a week like we do all the other ~residents at no cost to you. Mayor Parker asked George if this could be done? George said it could. George said he talked to Rumpke representative and they are willing to go over to the complex with them and show them where they can put the cans because of the big trucks and that would give an idea of how the cans will work. If that doesn't work then you can come back and ask the Council for help in paying the cost of the additional pick up. Mayor Parker asked for the Association to get together with Mr. Kavanaugh and Mr. Trembly and a representative from Rumpke to get things worked out. DANNY K. HARRIS CITED FOR ACCIDENT AT COURT AND SPRING STREET Street Commissioner Trembly said he cited Danny K. Harris to appear before this Board today for the accident he had at Court and Spring Street for damaging a traffic control box, ran over a park bench~ speeding sign, ran into a bakery truck, he owes the City $5,006.15, and he will be appearing in court on August 30, 1995 they already have the paper work, Mr. Harris was supposed to appear at this meeting first, since he did not appear here we will report this to the Judge. THANK YOU Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman thanked everyone for all the cards, letters and phone calls and the pep talks the Mayor and Pee Wee had in office, he glad to be back. Animal Shelter Ed Voyles welcomed Pee Wee back. STREET CLOSING City Engineer Bob Miller said he had a call from Don Edward concerning a dead Elm treem at 1809 Spring Street and he is requesting to close the 1800 block of Spring Street for 1/2 day, beginning at noon today. Mayor Parker asked Bob, George and the Police Department take a look at this and make sure he has insurance,a flagman and bring the recommendation back to the Board next week. 8-TON WEIGHT LIMIT, CHARLESTOWN PIKE Street Commissioner George Trembly reported they temporarily made Charlestown Pike an 8-ton weight limit and would like to keep it at that, but this needs to be approved by the Board and then sent to the Council to amend the Ordinance that covers, and to add that road to the 8 ton weight limit roads. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the amending of the Ordinance, seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. PAGE 3 AUGUST 21, 1995 STREET SWEEPER BIDS Street Commissioner wants permission to advertise street sweeper. Director Matra made the motion advertising for a new street sweeper, seconded by and carried unanimously. for bids for a to approve the Director Lakeman, There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:20a.m., seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
