Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~ and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: City Engineer Bob Milleri Street Commissioner George Trembly, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~ Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles, City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Assistant Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott~ Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion of June 6~ 1995 as presented~ seconded by Director carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. BIDS FOR CHIPPER TRUCK to approve the minutes of the meeting Matra and as presented Street Commissioner George Trembly said to scrap the bids for the Chipper Truck and rebid. The truck was not up to specs~ RESIDENT PARKING SIGN Dawn Brilee, 607 E. Market Street requested a resident did not appear before the Board, this was tabled. EYE LEVEL ADVERTISING parking sign, Mike Cousins representing Easy Eye Advertising has a complaint about Eye Level Advertising that has a contract with the City Of Jeffersonville, Mike has found several violations with the benchs that are on City property. Mayor Parker said he will talk to our City Attorney before he can give an ok on this. We need to walt until next week~ Mike Gillenwater is on vacation this week. GOHMANN ASPHALT-PERMISSION TO PARK OFFICE ~RAILER ON CITY PROPERTY Mark Anderson of Gohmann Asphalt wanted to get permission to park their office trailer on City owned lot under the Kennedy Bridge, he did not appear before the Board, this was tabled. STREET LIGHT-SPEEDING ON WHELAN LANE Nita Dismang~ 1009 Whelan Lane wanted to request a talk about epeeding on Whelan Lane did not appear this was tabled. street light, and before the Board, PAGE 2 JUNE 12, 1995 STREET LIGHT City Engineer Bob Miller received a street light request Spruch. Bob reported he has not been there to check on it. LANDSCAPE PROBLEM AT 415 E. lOTH STREET from Dr. -Fony Elzy, 415 E. loth Street has a landscape problem wih Semi-Trucks turning the corner at Walnut E ilOth Streets. Mr. Elzy said when they turn the corner they come into his yard and hit his flower box causing extensive damage. He is requesting to have the Semi's go down another route to loth. Street. He has talked to Kitchen Kompact about this and they say it is not their trucks. Mayor Parker asked Bob Miller, George Trembly and Charley Elder to check on this and bring back their recommendations to the Board next week. ROADBLOCK FOR SPECIAL OLYMPIC~ Police Chief Charles Elder reported Judy Himmel, representing Special Olympics is requesting roadblocks on June 17 & 18, 1995 from 9:00am-4:OOpm, the locations will be Walnut and Locust Streets, Dutch Lane and Hamburg Pike. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the roadblocks for Special Olympics, seconded by Director Marra, and carried unanimously. ' STREET LIGHT Mr. Gohmann who lives on E. Park Place is requesting a street light again because it is dark where he lives. Chief Elder said the area where he lives is dark, however he lives in the middle of the block and there is a street light at each end of the street and one in the middle of the block acroes the street. Chief Elder said they have very large trees that block out the light, and Mr. Gohmann does not want the trees cut~ Chief Elder recommends not giving him a light. STREET LIGHT City Engineer Bob Miller reported that the area where the street light on E. Park Place has been requested~ does not warrant a street light because the trees are the problem. ' OLD TIRES Street Commissioner George Trembly reported they started picking up t~res at the curbs again. A company called Choppers Inc. is taking the o~d tires. ' BOAT ~RAILERS AND CAMPERS PARKED ON STREET Street Commissioner George ]rembly said there is a problem with people leaving boat trailers and camping trailers parked on the street for an extended length of time. Chief Elder said there is no Ordinance to cover this. Mayor Parker asked Chief Elder to get with City Attorney Mike Gillenwater about this. PAGE 3 JUNE 1~, 1995 ORD I NANCE City Services Coordinator Les Kavanaugh reported he has received the Ordinance from Louisville Jefferson County Air Pollution Control Board. THANK YOU Fire Chief Jerry Dooley wants to thank everyone who helped with collecting for the Crusade for Children especially the F.O.P. Letters will be sent out to the other people who helped. We collected between $82,0©© & $23,00©~ this is up from last year. BUDGETS Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported the Pre-Budget team has met with all the Department Heads and would like to have the final form of the budget turned in at the end of this week. Council Budget sessions will begin July I0, 1995. REPAIR AFFAIR Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported on Repair Affair a first · time event in Southern Indiana~ they help elderly and disabled individuals whos homes are in need of repair. . Donna passed out volunteer forms for the Repair Affair~ additional laborers are needed to help with the repairs. There will be 5 homes in Jeffersonvi]le, 5 homes in New Albany and 2 homes in Clarksville. The Repair Affair will take place on June 2~, 1995 and would appreciate any help anyone can give. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at ]O:OOa.m., seconded by Director' Marra~ and carried unanimously.
