OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONViLLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY APRIL 10~ 1995
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Mary-a.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Engineer Bob
Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater~ Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton~ Police Chief Charles Elder~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~
Animal Shelter Director Ed Voy!es~ Parks Superintendent Donnie Poo!e~
Waste~ater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman~ Clerk and Treasurer C.
Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of April 3~ 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.
MYRTLE STREET CLEAN UP
City Building Commissioner Bill Gavin presented pictures of the
property on Myrtle Street that were taken on 3-16 and 3-31~ 1995. Mr'.
Sweetman was in Bill's office on 3-31~ 1995 informed Bill he had until
~-i-95 to clean up his property which was not the case. Bill is
preparing a report to give to City Attorney Mike Gillenwater so he can
cite him into court.
NOISE PROBLEM ON BRISCOE DRIVE
City Attorney Mike Sillenwater is going to cite these people into
Beard meeting next Monday to get this problem resolved.

DOG KENNEL ON CENTER STREET
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that the problem with
Kennel on Center Street has not been resolved.

LITER'S DUARRY DUST PROBLEM
Gordon Ollis~ 1~41 Ridgeway Drive appeared before the Board with a
complaint about the dust problem at Liter's Quarry. After' some
discussion Mr. Ollis ie requestinq the dust problem be taken care of.
Mike Gillenwater said that he ~i]l check with Les Kavanaugh and have
him investigate it. Mayor Packer said this is the first complaint he
has received on the dust.
VENDOR'S PERMIT
Diana Johnson of Clark County Youth Shelter is requesting for a
vendor's permit to sell soft drinks during the Great Steamboat Race.
Ms. Johnson is asking for the $95.00 be waived. Mayor Parker
recommends to waive the pe.rmit and also told Ms. Johnson to get with
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird on the locations. Director Matra
made the motion to approve the setting up and selling soft drinks for
the Clark County Youth Shelter with the stipulation that the $95.00
for the vendor's permit be wavied~ seconded by Director Marra~ and
carried unanimously.

Yvonne Knight representing Howard Steamboat Museum cepor ted the
Chautauqua week-end will be on May ~0~ & BI, 1995 and is requesting
some help from the City with Porta Pots, closing of High Street at
Market Street up to the back gate of the Museum for handicap and
priority parking. Mayor Parker said that Chief Elder can have a car
Pa~.oling the area~ George will take race of the barracades. Donnie
Poote gave permission to park vehicles at the Port Fulton Park.
Mayor Packer reported the 1996 Budgets should be ready by May 1, 1995
for pre-budget meetings ~ith Donna Baird.
~0 E. MAPLE STREET
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported on the property at ~0 E.
Maple Street~ that Ms. Pat Evans has until April 17~ 1995 to have
something done with the property or she will have to be at a hearing
on Monday a~ lO:OOam at this Board meeting~ this will be the last step
before we take her to court.
PEDDLE___R_'S P___ERMIT
Chauncey Lewis~ representing F~ne Meats is requesting a Peddler's
Permit to go door to door selling meat. Chauncey has an apartment at
Evelyns Beauty Shop at the Corner of Wall and E. loth Street. Chief
Elder s~id that he has had no problems with th~s compmny ~nd ~ill
check it out and bring his recommendations to the next Board meeting~
STREET ClOSiNG
Street Commissioner George 'Trembly is requesting permission to close
otr~et to Spring Street West bound on ~-17-95 and reopen that
night and close again on 4-~0-95. Director Lakeman made the motion to
approve the street closings on A-i3 and 4-~0-95 seconded by Dicector
Macra, and carried unanimously. ~
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
lO~OOa.m. ~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
