OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVI~LE~ INDIANA
MONDAY APRIL 3~ 1995
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~
and on cai1 of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr., Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Marra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller~ Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater~ Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton~ Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley~
Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles, City Services Coordinator Leslie
Kavanaugh~ Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole, Administrative Assistant
Donna Baird~ Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman~ Clerk and
Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr., and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of March 2?, 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried
unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented~
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
MYRTLE STREET CLEAN UP
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported the problem on Myrtle Street
has not been cleaned up~ Bill said the deadline was Firday. Pictures
were taken on 3-16 & 3-31~ 1995~ no effort has been made to clean it
up. Bill will give this to the City Attorney Gillenwater~
MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA
Carol Stevens representative for March Of Dimes Walk America said the
walk will be on April 29, 1995 at Clark State Forest. There will be a
Riverfair at Riverfalls Mall on April 9~ 1995 from l~:O0-6:00pm.
VENDOR'S PERMIT
C. Lewis~ 1501 Cypress Drive, RadcliP~e~ Kentucky request for a
vendor's permit was tabled, he did not attend the meeting.
ROD RUN FOR CRUSADE FOR CHILDREN
Claude Rottet is appearing before the Board requesting permission to
have a Rod Run for Crusade for Children on the firet Saturday in Ju~e~
Mayor Parker said last year we had somme problems. City Engineer Bob
Miller said that it was a bad location, also there ~as a lot of noise
Mayor Parker said he received several complaints in his office and he
would like for Mr. Rottet to put a plan in motion and discuss it with
the City Engineer and the Police Department ~ith an alternative
location.

YARD ENTERPRISES
Bill Yarbrough said Eric Golden appeared before the Board to get
permission to tap into the sewers next to French Guarters Apartments
he is changing the name of the business from Eric Golden to
Yard-Enterprises.
VACATING AN EASEMENT
Building Commissioner Dill Gavin reported that he received a letter
from the County Commissioners concerning vacating an easement between
420! ~ 4i09 Patricia Drive in Jackson Heights. Bill said Robert Ellis
has letters from all Utilities releasing it. Bill said there has been
a problem because of it being in the 2 mile fringe. Bill is going to
the County Commissioners meeting today to help Mr. Ellis get it
released. Director Matra made the motion to allow Mr. Gavin to pursue
as far as the City is concerned~ the Board of Public Works and Safety
does approve vacating of the easement between 4BO1 & 4109 Patricia
Driver seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
NOISE PROBLEM ON BRtSCOE DRIVE
City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that he has not received the names
of the people from Chief Elder.
DOG KENNEL ON CENTER STREET
City Attorney Mike Gillen~ater said he is getting something drafted on
the Kennel on Center Street.
STREET CLOSINGS
Assistant Police Chief Charles Thompson presented a copy of street
closings and parking for Thunder Over Louisville for the approval by
the Board. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the street
closing and parking for Thunder Over Louisvil!e~ seconded by Director
Matra and carried unanimously.
WELFARE REFORM PROGRAM
Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported she spoke with Bob
Hammond and City Attorney Mike Gillenwater in regards to Welfare
Reform Program that she has discussed about the Welfare workers that
we can have for the city. Donna received a response from IPEP about a
question in regards to coverage and what it does. IPEP will offer
~orkers compensation coverage to participants. (see copy)
EDGEWOOD STREET SIGNS
Street Commissioner George Trembly reported he's going to put up
additional street signs in the split at Edgewood and Greenhill Drive
in the Walnut Ridge Subdivision across from Thomas Jefferson School.
Director Matra made the motion to approve putting the necgssary signs
up in Walnut Ridge Subdivision at the split on Edgewood and Greenhill
Drives~ seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried unanimously~

STREET CLOSING
Waete~ater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman is requesting to
close Walnut Street between 9th ~ 10th Streets on Thursday April 5~
1995 from 8:00am-noo~. for repairs. Director Lakeman made the motion
to approve the street closing~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried
unanimously.
ROADBLOCK FOR JEFF/GRC LITTLE LEAGUE
Chris Carter representing Jeff/GRC Little League is requesting
roadblocks on April 15~ 1995 from lO:OOam-G:OOpm, at Hamburg Pike and
Dutch Lane, Gth Street and Penn, Charlestown Road and Holman Lane~
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the Jeff/GRC Little League
roadblock on April 15, 1995~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried
unanimously. (see copy)
COBRA FOR FRANCES MIDDLETON
Clerk-Treasurer Spencer is requesting approval from the Board to send
Cobra information to Frances Middleton on April 4~ 1995. Director
Lakeman made the motion to approve the request from Clerk-Treasurer
Spencer on sending Cobra information to Frances Middleton, seconded by
Director Matra and carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:05a.m.~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
