Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr.~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: City Engineer Bob Mil!er~ Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Giilenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Elder~ Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles, Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole~ Administrative Assistant Donna Baird~ Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr.~ and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of January B3, 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Marco and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. RESOLUTION Clerk and Treasurer Dick Spencer presented to the Board a Resolution to Establish Sinking Fund Accounts for Retirement for Jeffersonville Sewage Utility Series A & C Bonds. Mayor Parker read the Resolution No. BPW 95-R-01. Director Matra made the motion to adopt Resolution BPW 95-R-0I, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. <see copy) BRO E. MAPLE STREET Mary Ellen Kennedy ~B E. Maple Street is appearing before the Board to discuss the abandon property next door to her at BBO E. Maple Street. Ms. Kennedy said the property is very dangerous. Mayor Parker explained that what we've done is based on your original complaint, and we have already started action on this. CURVE ON JONQUIL DRIVE Administrative Assistant Donna Baird has a request from Sharon Salinas concerning a curve on Jonquil Drive. She has had her mail box knocked down 3 times and would like someone to investigate this to see if anything can be done. Mayor Parker asked Chief Eider to investigate this and contact Ms. Salinas. George Trembly said after Chief Elder investigates this~ they can put up a dangerous curve sign. PAGE 2 JANUARY 30~ !995 EMPLOYEE LEAVE OF ABSENCE Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles reported that City Animal Control Officer Mike Gentry is off on sick leave and he has no more eick days left and is requesting a leave of absence. Mike hae a injured 4 & 5 vertebra and may need surgery on his right arm because of a pinched nerve. Personnel Director Harold Lakeman eaid that Mike should send a letter asking for an official leave of absence. City Attorney Gitlenwater suggested to grant a one week temporary leave of absence and come back to the Board after Mike sees the doctor. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the request of Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles for a temporary one week leave of absence for Mike Gentry until the determination can be made when it should be permanent~ and the decision will be made at the next Board of Public Works meeting~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously. BID OPENINGS Bids were opened for the Sewer Utilities Vacuum Truck they are as follows: DEEDS EQUIPMENT INC. 810 C Comb. Sewer Cleaner mounted a new 1995 Ford LNSO00 single axle truck with optional equipment and accessories BID: $149~878.00 BROWN EQUIPMENT, INC. V~90 THA 1000 J BID: $141~05~.00 Mayor Parker explained that the bids will be taken and the recommendation will be brought back to the Coleman said that he will have these Companies come the equipment again before he makes his decieion. under advisement Board. Bob tmlked to Fire Chief Jerry Dootey and he said that it will not affect any of his equipment. Bob also said that it will not affect sidewalks, drainage and you can still walk on the blacktop. It's a right-of-way. Bob said that he would like to send him a letter on this. Mayor Parker agreed. Director Lakeman made the motion to give permission to Clark Memorial Hospital for unloading lane at the recommendation of the City Engineer and a letter to follow, seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously. PAGE 3 JANUARY 30~ 1995 PRESS RELEASE Administrative Assistant Donna Baird received a Press Release from Phyllis Wilkins of NBD Bank regarding Southern Indiana Minority Business Fair on February 2~ 1995 from i:OOPM-?:OOPM at the Ramada Hotel Riverside and asked Donna to give it to alt the Department Heads. There being no Works and Safety, lO:OOa.m., seconded ATTE,~: CLERK AND TREASURER further business to come before the Board of Public Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
