Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the ,-oil those members present were Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr.~ Personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman, and Sewage Collection Office Director Jim Matra. Also present were: City Engineer Bob Miller~ Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Mike Gillenwater, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Eider, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley, Animal Shelter Director Ed Voyles~ City Services Coordinator Leslie Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole~ Administrative Assistant Donna Baird, Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr.~ and Clerk Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of January 9, 1995 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~ seconded by Director Matra and'carried unanimously. CORNER OF WATT AND 8TH STREETS Carolyn Howard who lives at the corner of 8th and Watt Streets is reporting there were 2 more wrecks there this past week. She is requesting again that something be done about that intersection. Mayor Parker explained that we have tried to come up with something in the past to help this situation, we have put up signs warning about the intersection and right now we cannot put a 4 way stop there because it would be too dangerous. Police Chief Charles Elder said that he would put a Traffic Officer on 8th Street in that area for the next 15 days to eee how many traffic violators there are. City Attorney Mike Gillenwater said that when ' Market Street reopens the traffic flow should be less. REPAIR OF GAS MONITORING EQUIPMFNT Waetewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman is requesting approval on repair of gas monitoring equipment at a cost of $1,599.30. Director Matra made the motion to approve the claims on repairing of the gas monitoring equipment, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. MARKET STREET PROJECT CHANGE ORDER Nathan Grimes representing Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz is requesting a Change Order for the Market Street Project Phase II at a cost of $90,9RS.07 with the Federal and State picking up 80% and the City ROW. Director Matra made the motion to approve the Market Street Project Phase II Change Order for $90,9RR.07 from Nathan Grimes of Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. Mayor Parker asked the Department Heads to turn in their Goals and Objectives to Donna Baird. PAGE JANUARY ADVERTISING BIDS ON REED PROPERTY 1995 City Attorney Mike Gillenwater reported that he has the Reed Property ready to advertise for bid. Mike said that it can be advertised on February 8 & 15~ 1995 and bid openings on February 27, 1995. Director Matra made the motion to allow our City Attorney to advertise for bids the Reed Property (bicycle trail), seconded by Director Lakeman~ and carried unanimously. Police Chief Charles Elder reported that the compieted the first week at the Police Academy. THANK YOU Officers have Barks Superintendent Donnie Poole thanked Chief Elder and his staff for coming and talking to the Field House staff once a month on how to handle problems with kids. REMINDER Administrative Assistant Donna Baird wants to remind everyone about the Blood Drive January 18~ 1995 in the Sheriffs Officers Training Room~ and there is a sign up sheet in Donna,s office. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 9:50a.m.~ seconded by Director Matra, and carried unanimously.
