TUESDAY JANUARY 3~ 1995
Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr. called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.,
and on call of the roll 'those members present were Mayor Raymond J.
Parker Jr.~ personnel and Safety Director Harold Lakeman~ and Sewage
Collection Office Director Jim Matra.
Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob
Miller~ Street Commissioner George Trembly~ City Attorney Mike
Gillenwater~ Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Maintenance Foreman
Mike Ewton, Police Chief Charles Elder, Fire Chief Jerry Dooley,
Animal Shelter Manager Ed Voyles~ City Services Coordinator Leslie
Kavanaugh, Parks Superintendent Donnie Poole~ Administrative Assistant
Donna Baird~ Wastewater Treatment Manager Kendall Coleman, Clerk and
Treasurer' C. Richard Spencer Jr.~ and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of December BT, 1994 as presented, seconded by Director Matra and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~
seconded by Director Matra and carried unanimously.
PEDDLER~S PERMIT
Police Chief Charles Eider reported on the Peddler~s
Torres. Chief Eider said that Mr. Torres met all the

Mayor Parker explained that the bids will be taken under advisement
and will be awarded at next weeks meeting.

NAMING OF ALLEY
John Perkins is requesting the Board to name the alley that runs
behind St. Augustine's and St. Luke's Churches. John said that it
runs from Watt Street to Mulberry Street. John suggested it be named
"Parish Place". Director Matra made the motion to approve the naming
of the alley behind St. Augustine and St. Luke's Churches to Parish
Place, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously.
DICTAPHONE GUARDING SYSTEM
Police Chief Charles Elder is requesting the Boards approval for a
Dictaphone Guarding System, the Council has already approved this~ the
money is in place, SBO,O00 is in the budget under Cum Cap Dev. and the
total cost is $19,647.007 it includes installation and 1 yr.
maintenance agreement. Chief Elder said he had another bid for
$31~9B7.00 from Motorola, it did not include installation or
maintenance agreement. Mayor Parker stated that he agrees that it is
much needed. Director Matra made the motion to approve to allow Chief
Elder to purchase a Dictaphone Guarding System for the Police Dept.,
seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. (see copy)
Mayor Parker asked Street Commissioner George Trembly to put the alley
signs up.

Administrative Assistant Donna Baird reported that

There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
9:50a.m.~ seconded by Director Marra~ and carried unanimously.
