HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-23-1996 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY DECEMBER 23~ 1996 Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.~ and on call of the roll those members present were: Personnel Director Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director Anthony Harrod. Also present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Scott Timmerman, and Alice Davis. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of December 16, 1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. VACATING ALLEY BEHIND VISSING DODGE City Engineer Bob Miller reported that he has not had time to investigate this. C-~EWER PROBLEM OF BOB MCAULIFFE AT 104 AND 105 SPRING STREET ~astewater Treatment Plant Assistant Manager Scott Timmerman said that the sewer problem that Mr. McAuliffe has at 104 and 105 Spring Street would have been taken care of about 10 years ago if he had put a back flow valve in when he was told to. Sewer Office Manager Bob Goldman reported that he received a letter from Mr. McAuliffe disputing the amount of water that he used, and wants the bill written off. Mayor Galligan asked Bob to write a letter to Mr. McAuliffe stating that he should install a back flow preventor because, this should have been done years ago, and also telling Mr. Aullffe the City could not write off the Sewer bill when the water volume has not been contested wlth Indiana-American Water. HANDICAP PARKING Susan or Dennis Ernst, 611 E. Chestnut Street is requesting a handicap parking sign, they did not appear, but Tony Harrod presented it to the Board. Mrs. Ernst's mother is handicapped and she is at their house everyday and they are requesting one for that reason. Mayor Galligan asked Police Chief Pavey to investigate this and bring the results to next weeks meeting.
