HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-25-1996MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY NOVEMBER 25,1996 Mayor Thomas R. Gall/gan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: Personnel Director Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director Anthony Harrod. Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Engineer Bob Miller, City Attorney Anne Marle Sedwick, Sewage Offlce Manager Bob Goldman, Assistant Police Chief John Monihon, Planning and Development Director Jim Urban, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Kendall Coleman, Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Fire Chief Mike Smith,Building Commissioner Bill Gavin and Clerk Lynne Kempf. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the mlnutes of the meeting of November 18, 1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod, and carrled unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motlon to approve the payrolls as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING Director Harrod reported that Joann Blake of 209 W. requesting a resldent parking sign. Assistant Monihon said it would be looked into. Market Street is Police Chief John STREET CLOSING Director Harrod, speaking for Jay Ellis said December 7th is set for a procession to start at the Overlook to Warder Park fo~ the lighting of the Christmas tree. It will be from 5:30 to 6=~0 p.m. Director Harrod made the motion to approve this request, ~econded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. CHANGE ORDER Nathan Grimes representing Jacobi, Toombs, and Lanz asked approval on a Change Order for the Dutch Lane-Hamburg Pike Job. The City portion is approximately Sl,700.00. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the Change Order, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. PAGE 2 NOVEMBER 25, 1996 SEWER BID AWARD John Toombs of Jacobi, Toombs,and Lanz announced that Dan Christiani Excavating was the low bidder on the Hamburg Pike-N.A. Chas. Pike sewer work. The bid was $232,638.54. Director Harrod made the motion to accept the bid, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. HANDICAP PARKING Director Lakeman representing Dan Johnson of 800 Indiana Avenue requested handicapped parking for Mr. Johnson's son. The police department will look into this request. RIVERFRONT CONDEMNATION City Attorney Sedwick requested that establishing damages and the owners condemnation. Director Harrod made request, seconded by Director Lakeman, the Board adopt a Resolution of property involved in the the motion to approve this and carried unanimously. ANIMAL SHELTER LAND PURCHASE City Attorney Sedwick asked the Board to appoint 2 appraisers. Director Harrod made the motion to approve appointing Pat Evans and Dick Wright to appraise the property, seconded by Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously. FIRE TRUCK BIDS Fire Department Chief Mike Smith presented 3 bids on the old fire truck. Mark Elliott was the low bidder with a bid of $1,400.00. Director Lakeman made the motion to accept the bid, seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
