MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY NOVEMBER 18,1996
Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
roll those members present were: Personnel Director
and Safety Director Anthony Hat,od.
Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly,City Engineer
Bob Millerl Building Commissioner Bill Gavin~ City Attorney Anne Marie
Sedwick~ Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Mike Pavey,
Fire Chief Mike Smiths Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Animal
Shelter Director Jim Glllenwater, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott,
Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Scott Tlmmerman, Redevelopment
Assistant Director Jennifer Mead and Clerk Lynne KemPf.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of November 121996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod, and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
SOLICITORS PERMIT
Police Chief Mike Pavey recommended denying this request because of
past problems. Director Harrod made the motion to deny this request,
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
IVY TECH
Jeff Pittman, Executive Dean of Ivy Tech and Theresa Bagley, Director
of Business and Industry Training spoke in regards to training
programs that they have to offer that the city might be interested in.
DRAINAGE PROBLEMS
Resident Terry Ross 'of 16 Roselawn Court spoke in regards to her
drainage problems. City Engineer Bob Miller said he would work on
getting an easement to correct this problem.
SPRING STREET
Safety Director Tony Harrod, speaking for Jim Smith who couldn't
attend the meeting, said that the sidewalk will be blocked on Spring
Street in front of the Elks Building and Norma's Bri~'a~d Brac while
they are being cleaned out.

TAXI SERVICE
Larry Hayden of 1539 E. Tenth Street asked for information pertaining
to the taxi cab ordinance and what's involved in getting a permit.City
Attorney Sedwlck gave him the information he requested.
STREET LIGHT REQUEST
City Engineer Bob Miller requested a street light at 1222 Blrchwood
Drive and one on Holmans Lane. Director Harrod made the motion to
approve this request, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried
unanimously.
CONDEMNATION OF RIVERFRONT PROP TV
City Attorney Sedwick said the city needs to condemn some property on
the riverfront for public use. She asked the b0ard to. approve the
Resolution she presented condemning the property and requiring
publication of notice. December 9th has been set for remonstrances.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the condemnation
Resolution, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimoUsly
FINANCIAL CONSULTANT
City Attorney Sedwlck has a letter of engagement from Crowe Chizek, a
financial consulting firm in Indianapolis, pertaining providing
services to assist the city in obtaining available state grant funding
for sewer improvements. Director Lakeman moved to engage Crowe
Chizek, seconded by Director Harrod and ~arried unanimously.
