OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 12,1996
Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
on call of the roll those members present were: Personnel Director
Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director Anthony Harrod.
Also present were: Deputy to the Street Commissioner George
Trembly,City Engineer Bob Miller, Building Commissioner Bill Gavin,
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman,
Police Chief Mike Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Assistant Fire Chief
William Davis, Planning and Development Director Jim Urban, Animal
Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott,
Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman, Wastewater
Treatment Plant Assistant Scott Timmerman, Redevelopment Assistant
Director Jennifer Mead and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of November 4,1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod~ and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
JINGLEBELL CHASE RUN
Louisa Henson asked permission to again hold the "Bridge the Gap"
Jinglebell Chase Run on December 14th. Chief Pavey said he has no
problem with the request. Director Harrod made the motion to approve
the request, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
SOLICITORS PERMIT
Mike Kopaz representing"Jobs for Teens" asked permission for teens to
sell various candy items door to door. The Mayor recommended tabling
this request until next week while it's being checked into.
INTER-CITY ROAD CLAIMS
Redevelopment Assistant Director Jennifer Mead presented 3 claims for
approval. The total of the claims are $9,352.72 for Jeffersonville's
portion. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.

WYANDOT TRUCK ACCESS
Planning and Development Director Jim Urban reported that last week
Councilman Ron Ellis and a representative from Wyandot talked about
truck access to the plant on Pennsylvania Avenue concerning the safety
of children in the area. They discussed short term and long term
remedies for truck traffic in that area. Wyandot requested 15 m.p.h.
speed limit signs and children at play signs be posted. For long
term, City Engineer Bob Miller requested taking this under study for
the best possible solution. Director Harrod made the motion to
approve the signs, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried
unanimously.
YARD WASTE
Street Commissioner George Trembly asked to extend the yard waste
deadline to the 20th of December. Director Lakeman made the motion to
extend the deadline, seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously. Street Commissioner Trembly also reported on looking at
the catch basins that children are getting in to on Pennsylvania
Avenue. The Mayor recommended putting in a regular basin if the
problem continues.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:00
A.M., seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
