MONDAY SEPTEMBER 9~ 1996
Safety Director Anthony Harrod called the meeting to order at 9:30
A.M., in the absence of Mayor Thomas R. Galllgan, and on call of the
roll those members present were: Personnel Director Harold Lakeman~
and Police Chief Mike p~Vey filled in for Safety Director Anthohy
Harrod.
Also present were: Deputy to the Mayor Phil McCauley, Street
Commissioner George Trembly, City Engineer Bob Miller, City Atsorney
Anne Marie Sedwlck, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Fire Chief Mike
Smith. Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman
Mike EwtOn, Animal Shelter Dfre6tor Jim~ Gillenwater~ Parks
Superintendent Rick Etliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager
Kendall Coleman, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Scott Timmerman,

Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of

TENT REVIVAL IN HENRY LANSDEN PARK
Debra Car~gr is requesting tO have a tent revival in Henry Lansden
Park September 22-28, 1996 and the hours will be
everyday except Saturday and that time will be 11:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M.
Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott sa%~. hg. will be bringing this up at
the Parks Board meeting today it's for the~NAACP[~' Dlrect0r Lakeman
made the ~o~ion.to approve the tent revival, seconded by Member Pavey,
and carried unanimously. ·
STOP SIGNS IN ELKE POINTE
Bob Doman of Elke~Point~e Subdivision requested Signs for stop signs in
Elke Pointe, did not appear before th Board.'
SPEED LIMIT SIGNS AND NO OULET SIGNS IN FOXBORO
Sandy Locke reported that in Foxboro Subdivision stop signs have been
put up a~d STOP was ~ Painted on the gro~d ~t the intersection of
Georgian Way and Lakewood Blvd., but. other places needs to be painted.
Mrs. Locke is also requesting 2 speed limit Signs and 2 no outlet
signs because there are no speed limit signs in the Subdivision, the
poles will be ~provided~.' M~s. Locke said the entrance needs stripes
painted to section off lanes to help eliminate accidents.
Commissioner Trembly will tak~ a 100k ~t this ~hi~f Pavey said ~h~re
should be 25 MPH signs put up. Director Lakeman made the motion to

David HaCkel, representing the Downtown B~sihess ASsociation reported
that the.Ha~lowegn ~_rtY and costume' contest is being moved from
Warder Park to Preservation statlon. Mr. ~Kei is r~q~%sting to have
Spring Street and the streets a~d alleys that CrOS~ be closed~ Parks
Superintendant Rick Etliott said he would like to have Market Street
closed from Wall to Peerl Street for safety° Rick suggested that
Ann's on the Rlver come across Market Street and hand out thlngs at

1997 SCHEDULE OF HOLIDAYS
City AttorneyAnne ~arie Sedwlck ~ented the 1997 Schedule of
Holldays with 1997 not belng an electlon yearj the 2 election days
wlll be changed, one will be Columbus Day, Monday October 13, 1997 and
the other election day wlll be eliminated for i997.~ Director Lakeman
made the motlon to approve thei99~6h~d~ie~'6~ Ho_idaysi'se~6~ded by
Member Pavey, and carried unanimously

Safety Director Harrod and he re{urn~d as DireQ~0[ releaving Member

ADDiTiONAL EMPLOYEE TO SEWER DEPARTMENT WORKFORCE
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick ~ep0rted the sewer D~partment work
crew has added one new member bringing the tOtal to foUr members, we
need approval from the Board for that which was effective last week~
we will need retroactive approval for last week and this week as well
as approval for the future. Director Lakeman madethe motion to

AUTHORIZATION OF PAYMENTS TO 1996 EMPLOYEES ......
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick is requestih% the'B6~rds approval to
have the salaries tha~ have been Paid to all th~ empIdy~es in the
sew~r~ bepart'~n~ r~'~6~Ct~ ~ t6~jan'uaf~ '1,"1996. Director Lakeman

UPDATED VERSION OF THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN
Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Scott Timmerman presented
the Board with an updated version of the Emergency Response Plan. Mr.
Timmerman said if there are any questions give him a call.
RATE FOR POLICE REPORTS
Police Chief Mike Pavey is requesting rate changes for all reports
with the exception of hand gun permits. The reports will be $5.$0 and
the hand gun permit with stay $10.00. Director Lakeman made the
motion to approve the rate changes~ seconded by Director Harrod, and
carried unanimously.
ST PAUL INSURANCE
Mr. Larry Atwood, representing St. Paul Insurance Company introduced
himself and explained that recently they picked up the Insurance
package for the City of Jeffersonville. Mr. Atwood said he would like
to meet with the Department Heads to go over how the Department is set
up and what the policies procedures are, and safety issues.
STEAMBOAT DAYS FESTIVAL
Fire Chief Mike Smith reported that Riverpointe Plaza was not
accessible, and the hydrants were blocked during the Steamboat Days
Festival. Street Commissioner George Trembly said he offered the
Festival 25 plastic roll off containers for refuse, they refused them
they used the cardboard containers and after the rain the cardboard
containers fell apart.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:15a.m., seconded by Director Harrod~ and. carried, unanimously.
