OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
TUESdaY, SEPTEMBER 3~ 1996
Mayor Thomas R. Galllgan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
on call of the roll those members present were: Personnel Director
Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director Anthony Harrod.
Also present were= Deputy to the Mayor Phil McCauley, Bulldlng
Commissioner Bill Gavin, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City
Engineer Bob Mft. l~r, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office
Manager Bob Goldma~ Police Chief Mike Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith,
Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike
Ewton, Animal Shelter Director Jim GllIenwater, Planning and
Development Director Jim Urban, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott,
Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman, Dock Asst. Police
Chief Maynard Marsh,Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Scott
Timmerman, and Clerk Lynne Kempf.
Director Lakeman madethe motion to apprOve the minutes of the meeting
of August 26~ 1996 as presented, seconded bY DirectOr Lakeman~and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims,
Director Harrod, and Carried unanimously.

RESIDENT PARKING-425 E. MAPLE STREET
Police Chief Pavey said he had checked out this location and sees
problem with this request. Director Lakeman made the motion
approve,seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.

1702 SPRING STi STREET LIGHT REQUEST
Police Chief Pavey checked this location out and doesn't think any
more traffic control devices are needed. He said stepping up patrols
in the area would probably be best.
SUBDIVISION PARTY
A request was made by Amelia Goffinet and Angie Bruno to block off
Andres Rd. in Mallard Run on Sept.14th at 2:~S p.m.until dark.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve this request, seconded by
Director Harrod and carried unanimously.

AIDS WALK
Pollce Chief Pavey asked to again participate in the 4th annual Aids
Walk on Sunday, September 29th. Director Harrod made the motion to
approve the request, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried
unanimously.
REPAIR AFFAIR AND INTER-CITY CLAIM
Assistant Redevelopment Director Jennifer Mead asked for approval of
an Inter-City road claim in' th~ amount of $ 7,040.00, of which the
clty pays half. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, seconded
by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. She also talked about
Repair Affair, a one day event that various organizations can
participate In .There is a $500~00 fee for the city to have a team in
thls event. She's hoping to have enough volunteers to make up a team.
BOB MILLER
City Engineer Bob Miller said that Brian Drive does warrant a street
light. Director Marrod made the motion to approve the request
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
City Engineer Miller inspected the curbs and gutters in Lansburg Cove.
He is requesting to release the bond 75%. He also asked to release
the sewer bond on Kingsfield Subdivision. Director Lakeman made the
motion to approve the request~ seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously.
City Engineer Bob Miller requests permission for partial sewer closure
on Chas.-New Albany Pike at Flagstaff Subdivision for sewer tap-in.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve, seconded by Director
Harrod and carried unanimously.
BOB MCAULIFFE-I$0 W. COURT AVE.
Mr. McAuliffe voiced bls concerns about flooding in the downtown area
where he owns property at Court and Spring. He also said that 5 street
lights are out between Ky. and Spring Street. City Engineer Miller
said he has contacted PSI on this matter recently.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Mayor Galllgan said Mike Sandifer is requesting 2 road blocks on Sept.
14th to raise money for the Special Olyr~pics between 9:~ and
p.m. Director Harrod made the motion to approve the request, seconded
by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.

UNITED WAY
Police Chief Pavey requested permission for a march for United Way on
Sept.5th from 3:15 to 4:30. Director Lakeman made the motlon to
approve the request, seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously.
PROJECT IMPACT
City Attorney Sedwick said that the contract between the police
dept..and the housing authority has been renewed and the rate of pay
raised to %~0.00 per hour. Director Harrod made the motion to approve
this, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety~ Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:55a.m., seconded by Director Harrod, and carried un~an,~ously.
