: MONDAY JULY 8, 1996
Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
on call of the roll those members present were: Mayor Thomas
Galllgan, Personnel Director Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director
Anthony Harrod.
Also present were: Deputy to the Mayor Phil McCauley, Building
Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner
George Trembly, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman~ Assistant Police
Chief Maynard, Fire Chief Mike Smiths Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike
Ewton, Animal Control Officer Mike Gentry, Parks Superintendent Rick
Elllott~ Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman,
Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Manager Scott Tlmmerman, and
Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of July 1, 1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried
unanimously.
Dlrector Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
JANE AVENUE APPRAISAL
Parks Department Director Rick Elliott and Building C0~iSs~dh~' Bill
Gavin appraised the lot #49 on Jane Avenue behind 507 Crestvlew at
$250.00. Mt'. GaVin Said that this lot is a non-building lot, it
measures 45x40x43. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the
$250.00 appraisal for the Jane Avenue property~ seconded 6y Director
Harrod, and carried unanimously.
HOME SHOW EXPO
Bob Lynne thanked everyone for cooperating with us for the asistance
we got from them. Mr. Lynne sald he went in advance from house to
house in the Subdivision telling them about the street closing and how
to get out to the main roads. Mr. Lynne also black coated the street
at his expense. Mayor Galligan was asked to cut the ribbon for the
opening.
ROADBLOCK FOR AAU TRACK
Mindy Christian requesting a roadblock for AAU Track did not appear
before the Board.

PEDDLER'S PERMIT
Paul Thompson, 1154 Quad Road appeared before the Board requesting a
Vendor's Permlt. After much discussion and explalnatlon Mr. Thompson
did not need a permit.
RESIDENTIAL PARKING
Mr. Ron Holthouser~ 31! Pearl Street is requeating a residential
parking sign in front of his resldence~ Mr. Holthouser explained that
his neighbors park in front of his residence and also during different
events downtown~ he cannot park in front of his residence~ Mayor
Galligan asked Assistant Police Chief Marsh to have this investigated
and bring back the recommendations to the Board next week.
REPLACEMENT OF ROLLER ON BELT PRESS
Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Kendall Coleman is requesting to
replace the roller on the belt press at the Treatment Plant~ it has a
stress fracture~ The rebuilt price is $5~665.$$ and has a one year
warranty~ a new one would cost $8,698~0~. Director Harrod made the
motion to approve the rebuilt roller, seconded by Director Lakeman~
and carried unanimously.
WORKING HOURS
Street Commissioner George Trembly is requesting permission to start
his crew at 6:0~am instead of 7:00am because of hot weather. Director
Harrod made the motion to approve changing the hours, seconded by
Director Lakeman, and carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
09:55a.m.~ seconded by Director Harrod~ and carried unanimously.
