OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE~ INDIANA
MONDAY MAY 6, 1996
Mayor Thomas R. Galllgan called the meeting to order st 9:40 A.M.~ and
on call of the roll those members present were: Mayor Thomas R.
Galligan, Personnel Director Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director
Anthony Harrod.
Also present were: Deputy to the Mayor phil McCauley, Building
Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, City Attorney Anne
Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Mike
Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Assistant Fire Chief William Davis,
Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Animal Shelter Assistant Rick
Broy, Planning and Development Director Jim Urban, Parks
Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager
Kendall Coleman, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Manager Joe
Goergen, and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of April 29, 1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the claims as presented,
seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented~
seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously.
ESTABLISHMENT OF BOAT STORAGE FEE AT WASEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick reported on establishing a boat
storage fee for the boats stored at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
After much discussion it was agreed to charge S2.00 per day fee
starting on May 6, 1996. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
S2.00 per day boat storage fee starting May 6, 1996 seconded by
Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
ALLEY NEXT TO PRESERVATION STATION
Parks Superintendent Rick Elllott has a request from Don Upton who is
starting a Travel Agency on Pearl Street requesting the alley on the
west side of the Preservation Station be graded and rocked by the
Parks Department so he can use it, it has not been used for years.
Rick said that George Trembly is against it. Mayor Galligan said the
City will not do it.
SEWER EASEMENT AT 2200 1/4 UTICA PIKE AND RIVERSHORE CONDOS
Assistant Wastewater Treatment Joe Goergen is requesting a sewer
easement at 2200 1/4 Utica Pike and Rivershore Condos to access it and
maintain it. After discussion it was agreed to have Director Coleman
contact John Hughes to tell him that they will be required to have an
easement before they can hook on.

ADDITIONAL PORTABLE PUMP
Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Joe Goergen said he can
buy a used 6" pump for $6~500.00 In stead of having to rent the 6"
pump for $500-$6~0 each time. City Engineer Bob Miller said he thinks
there are enough pumps the City owns that can be used by different
Departments.

BOAT DOCK~
Dock Master Ken Morrls said he has 8 applications for boat docks. Mr.
Marry Rlchey is requesting a year round dock~ Mr. Rlchey gave Ken a
check for $70~.~0 for a commercial dock, which his dock should be
residential. Ken said there is not a year round dock any more.
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin said he thinks there should be a
policy and treat everybody alike. Mayor Galllgan said that if Mr.
Rlchey has a problem he can come and see him.
TEMP LABOR FOR RIVER~RONT AND RIP-RAP FOR DOCK AREA #1-6~
Dock Master Ken Morris is requesting to get temporary help from
Southern Temps to help him part-time and the cost will be $7.85 hr.
Ken is also requesting to have a load of rip-rap be brought in to the
East end docks #1-6~, where docks #11-21 have washed out areas.
CLOSING OF 9TH AND 10TH STREETS FOR DEMOLITION OF BRIDGE
Mayor Galllgan is requesting closing 9th and 10th streets for
demolition of the Brldge. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
closing 9th and 10th Streets for demolition of the Bridge~ seconded by
Director HaFrod~ and carried unanimously.
STREET LIGHT REQUEST AT PORT AND LOOP ROADS
City Engineer Bob Miller has a request for a street light at the
intersection of Port and Loop Roads. Director Harrod made the motion
to approve the street light request, seconded by Director Lakeman and
carried unanimously.

POLICE SECURITY FOR BRIDGE REPAIR
Police Chief Mike Pavey has a request from Louisville's Finest to have
a Police car at the end of the bridge with the lights on for the next
three weeks for security. Chief Pavey told them the overtime rates
are $20.00 per hour from 7:00am-9:00 pm. Mayor Galligan questioned the
pay for using the cars. After discussion it was agreed for the Police
to do the request now and the next time we will establish a rate to
cover the car costs also. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
the Police security for Bridge repairs for the next three weeks,
seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
10:30a.m., seconded by Director Harrod, and carried unanimously.
