OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY APRIL 22, 1996
Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
on call of the roll those members present were: Mayor Thomas R.
Galligan, Personnel Director Harold Lakeman, and Safety Director
Anthony Hatred.
Also present were: Deputy to the Mayor Phil McCauley, Building
Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner
George Trembly, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office
Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Mike Pavey~ Fire Chief Mike Smith,
Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike
Ew~on, Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Parks Superintendent
Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Manager Joe
Goergen, and Clerk Alice Davis.
Director Lakeman made the. motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
of April 15, 1996 as presented, seconded by Director Hatred and
carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Hatred and carried unanimously.
ROADBLOCK

PRESERVATION WEEK
Jay Ellis is requesting to have Spring Street between Maple and
Chestnut Streets closed for 4 hours instead Of' the one hour that was
approved at last weeks meetingl ~ and would i~ketO request a"P~i~ce
Officer to be at the tricycle event. Mr. Ellis is also requesting to
wave the permit fees for Merchants sell goods and services on Friday
May 17, 1996. Director Lakeman made the motion to close Spring Street
from ll:00am-4:O0pm and to wave the permit fees for Merchants,
seconded by Director Hatred, and carried unanimously.
K OF. C TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE ROADBLOCK
Dick Bennett representing the Knights of Columbus is requesting a
roadblock on May 17 and 18, 1996 at Walnut and Market Streets, 8th and
Main Streets, Hamburg Pike and Dutch Lane for the annual Tootsie Roll
Drive. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the K of C's
annual Tootsie Roll Drive, seconded by Director Ha~od, and carried
unanimously.

REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT FOR RIVERPORT II
Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Joe Goergan is
requesting to rebuild #2 pump at Power House Lift Station at a cost of
$1~600~ install Phase Loss/Power Monitor at a cost of' $325, install
two additional flourescent light fixtures at a cost of $470, total of
$2~395. Joe is also requesting to rebuild pump #1 at Rlverport II
Pumpstatlon for a cost of $2,600, and he would like permission to
purchase 1-1993 M/N 6" trash pump S9,5~0, 1-1993 M/N 3" Diaphragm pump
$950~ hoses and fittings $2~200, total cost $12,650. Director Harrod
made the motion to approve the requests from the Wasterwater Treatment
Plant Assistant Director Joe Goergan, seconded by Director Lakeman,
and carried unanimously. (SEE COPY)
AAU BASKETBALL ROADBLOCK
Police Chief Mike Pavey has a request from Jim Cox to have a AAU
Basketball roadblock on April 27, 1996 from lt=00am-3:00pm at Holmans
Lane and Charlestown Pike. Director Lakeman made the motion to
approve the roadblock, seconded by Director Harrod, and carried
unanimously.
RESIDENTIAL AND HANDICAP PARKING REQUEST
Police Chief Mike Pavey reported that he was contacted about a
handicap and a residential parking sign at 823 Meigs Avenue. The lady
had requested a handicap and a residential parking signs, she received
the residential sign but the handicap sign is a couple of parking
places away from her residence and she is requesting to have it
removed and placed in front of her home. Chief Pavey said he has seen
all her medical papers and she is handiacpped and he agrees that she
should have a sign. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the
handicap and residential parking signs, seconded by Director Harrod,
and carried unanimously.
PEDDLER'S PERMIT REQUEST
Mark Wlndley is requesting for a Peddler's Permit to sell merchandise
on private property. Mayor Galligan explained that Mr. Wlndley does
not need a permit to sell on private property. Mro Windley is also
requesting that the roadblock that was approved for May be changed to
Friday April 26, 1996. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve to
change the May roadblock to Friday April 26,1996, seconded by
Director Harrod~ and carried unanimously~
RESIDENTIAL PARKING REQUEST
Director Tony Harrod is requesting a residential parking sign for Ron
Ellis on Mitchell Avenue. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
the residential parking sign, seconded by Director Harrod, and carried I

SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIRE TRUCKS
City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwlck presented two sets of specs for
two-1500 GPN Pumper and one 105' ladder truck to be advertised and
then opened on May 20, 1996. Director Harrod made the motion to
approve the specs for the fire trucks~ seconded by Director Lakeman,
and carried unanimously.
CITATION BY BUILDING COMMISSIONERS OFFICE FOR JO ANN MULL
Jo Ann Mull was cited by the Building Commissioners Office and
appeared before the Board. Commissioner Gavin cited her for trash in
her backyard, washer, open storage, car~ old tired Junk, shelving.
Ms. Mull said the washer is going in her house, the car will be taken
away today. Mr. Gavin asked her to clean up the yard. Ms. Mull said
she would take care of this.
Commissioner Gavin said he went by the home of William and Martha
Bowen and they have cleaned up some of the yard.
BOAT DOCK RENTAL APPROVALS
Building Commissioner Bill Gavin presented Boat Dock Rental to be
approved. They are dock #29 & 30, 39, 47, 123, 54, 125, 52, 43, 37,
44, 113, 21, 102, 41, 6. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve
the boat dock rentals, seconded by Director Harrod, and carried
unanimous ly.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at
09:55a.m., seconded by Director Ha~ndMAYOR ~~lmously.
