HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-12-1996MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF TH~ CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY FEBRUARY 12, 1996 Deputy to the Mayor Phil McCauley called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on call of the roll those members present were Safety Director Anthony Harrod and Personnel Director Harold Lakgman. Also present were: Building Commissioner Bill Gavin, City Engineer Bob Miller, Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Fire Chief Mike Smith, Assistant Fire Chief William Davis, Vehicle Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater, Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott, Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Kendall Coleman, Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Joe Goergen, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of February 12,1996 as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. ST. PATRICK'S DAY PERMIT REQUEST Police Chief Mike Pavey reported on the St. Patrick's Day Permit request, he still has not received any information on this. Chief Pavey asked that this be tabled. Director Harrod made the motion to table this, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. HANDICAPPED PARKING FAIRVIEW AVENUE Police Chief Mike Pavey spoke with the resident at 112 Fairview Avenue. The owner of the apartment building is going to stripe the lot and put up the sign. Director Lakeman made the motion to dismiss this matter, seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. RESIDENTIAL PARKING-RON ELLIS Director Harrod made the motion to table this matter until notice, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. further WATT STREET SIGNS City Engineer Bob Miller said the signs for 2 hour parking will go up right away. Director Harrod made the motion to approve this request, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. Page 2 Feb. 12, 1996 SPAY NEUTER VOUCHERS Animal Shelter Director Jim Gillenwater explained that these vouchers are pre-paid so there is no need for approval or action by the Board on this matter. Director Harrod made the motion to dismiss this matter, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. SOUTHERN INDIANA BUSINESS FAIR Posters were handed out to the department heads help out the business fair. for distribution to OVERSIZE BOAT PERMITS Approval oversize request, was given to Jeff Nash of Kentuckiana Yacht Sales to haul boats. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve this seconded by Director Harrod and carried unanimously. RESIDENT PARKING ONLY SIGN Building Commissioner Bill Gavin reported that Carolyn Rodgers called him concerning a resident only parking sign at her residence. She said she had never been contacted by anyone. Police Chief Mike Pavey said that according to Officer Dave Schmidt, this address is a multiple dwelling and not a single dwelling home. Chief Pavey said he would follow up on this matter and get back to her. REPLACEMENT ITEMS Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Director Joe Goergen asked for approval of 4 items. They are listed as belts, brushes, tires, portable radio, and a charger analyzer. The total cost for the items is $10,396.64. Director Harrod made the motion to approve this request, seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously. HAVEN HOUSE FIRE Fire Chief Mike Smith reported The cause was arson and is being on another fire at the investigated. Haven House. JEFF NAACP Parks Superintendent Rick Elliott said the Jeff Chapter of the NAACP Youth Division is developing the Southern Indiana Youth Economic Center. There are several office items they are in need of if anyone wants to help out.
