HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-17-1997MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY,NOVEMBER 17,1997 Planning and Development Director Jim Urban sitting in for Mayor Galllgan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M. and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Mlller~ and Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman sitting in for Director Urban. Also present were: Asst.Parks Superintendent Rick Elllott, Police Chief Mike Pavey, Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman, Building Commissioner Yancy Plnkston, Animal Shelter Manager Rick Broy, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman,Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Mike Ewton, Fire Chief Mike Smith, and Clerk Lynne Kempf. City Engineer Bob Miller made the motion to approve the minutes of Now.~0tn,,. seconded by Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman and carried unanimously. TRAIN NOISE Joseph Watson~ a resident of Claysburg Towers brought to the Board his complaint about CSX Railroad ringing the train bell and blowing the horn for an extended time waking him from sleep on a regular basis. City Engineer Miller said that maybe he, City Attorney Galllgan~ and Chief Pavey could get a letter drafted to CSX on this matter. City Engineer Miller made the motion to give CSX one week to alleviate this problem. If they don't comply they'll be cited in to the Board, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. BRIDGE THE GAP, INC. Louisa Henson of Bridge The Gap which helps underprivileged children asked permission to hold the annual Jingle Bell Chase Run on Saturday, December 13~ 1997 and close the street from 8:30-9:30 a.m.(attached route) Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to approve the Jingle Bell Chase Run and close the street, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. SOLICITORS PERMIT Ron Long of 1111 Spruce Drive asked permission to sell mistletoe on the ramp by Eastern Boulevard. The Board said that the area he is talking about is the County's Jurisdiction so he needs to check with the County on this. PAGE 2 NOVEMBER 17, 1997 NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN CHURCH City Engineer Miller spoke in regards to Conrad Moore, Pastor of Northside Church requesting a turn lane by the church. City Engineer Miller said the city doesn't have the funds to make the turning lane bigger. He thinks a letter should be sent to Chris Nolan or L.R. Inman to help pay for this. City Engineer Miller made the motion to contact Chris Nolan on this matter, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. CITATIONS 2410 HAMBURG PIKE- Building Commissioner Pinkston said the sewer tap-in has not been completed. Sewage Office Manager Goldman made the motion to give Richard Small 10 days to get his permit for the tap-in or be cited in to the Board, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. 911 PRATT STREET-Has been resolved. 816 MAIN STREET-Has been resolved. TRAFFIC CONTROL LIGHTS City Engineer Miller received a quote from Metzger Electric to retrieve the existing programs on the traffic system in the event of a future program loss. ROADBLOCK Police Chief Pavey, on Major Woods behalf requested to hold a roadblock on November 29, 1997 from 12-4 p.m. at the intersection by Ice Cream Willle's with proceeds going to the Salvation Army. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the roadblock, seconded by Sewage Office Manager Goldman and carried unanimously. PAGE 3 NOVEMBER 17~ 1997 HUNCILMAN ENTERPRISES Nellie Nolan said the apartments on Magnolia Avenue are still having a problem with trash lying around. The owner of the apartments, Huncilman Enterprises will be notified again of the problem. There being no further business to come before the Board of Public Works and Safety, City Engineer Miller made the motion to ad3ourn at 10:3~ a.m., seconded by Sewage Office M~a~/q~r Goldman carried
