HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-25-1997MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEF~ERSONVILLE, INDIANA MONDAY AUGUST 25, 1997 Planning and Development Director Jim Urban called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M.in Mayor Galligan's absence and on call of the roll those members present were: City Engineer Bob Miller, and Street Commissioner George Trembly. Also present were: City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan, Sewage Office Manager Bob Goldman, Asst. Parks Superintendent Rick Elllott,Police Chief Mike Pavey, Assistant Street Commissioner Bobby Ervin,Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Tlmmerman, Building Commissioner Yancy Pinkston, Fire Chief Mike Smith,Animal Shelter Director Jim Glllenwater, City Engineer Bob Miller~ Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor Mike Ewton, Planning and Development Director Jim Urban and Clerk Lynne Kempf. Street Commissioner George Trembly made the motion to approve the minutes Q.f ~ August 18, 1997, ~as presented, seconded by City Engineer Bob Miller and carried unanimously. '~ ~ ~' ~ City Engineer Bob Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presened, seconded by Street Commissioner George Trembly. BIDS Director Urban opened bids on a building for the Street Dept~ One was from LeMay Enterprises for $26,950.00 and one from R.L. Holten for S36,894.00. Street Commissioner GeoFge Trembly recommended taking the bids under advisement. Planning and DeveloPment Director Urban opened bids on a Roll-Off truck from Ky. Sales for $82,000.00 and Great American Peterbilt for $88,546.00. Street Commissioner Trembly made the motion to take the bids under advisement, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. ST. PAUL'S CRAFT FAIR Street CommissioneF Trembly asked on behalf of St. Paul's Church permission to close part of Walnut Street for the Craft Fair from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on October llth. City Engineer Miller made the motion to close part of Walnut Street, seconded by Street Commissioner Trembly and carried unanimously. AUGUST 25, .i. PAGE 2 1997 ELECTRICAL COMPENSATION Wast~water Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman said the contract between the City and EMC states that any electricity costs above the cap will be reimbursed by EMC. Therefore, EMC will present a check to the City for $211733.83. The check will go back to the Sewer Department. City Engineer Miller made the motion to accept the check, seconded by Street Commissioner Trembly and carried unanimously. NOTICE OF VIOLATION Scott Timmerman said Industrial Water Recycling was issued a letter by EMC around August 10th to notify EMC of discharge. On August 16 and 17 IWR discharged without authorization so EMC is requesting to send them a Notice of Violation because of it. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve sending the Notice of Violation, seconded by Street Commissioner Trembly and carried unanimously. BACK FLOW PREVENTER City Engineer Bob Miller said that Ken and Bev Chesser and her neighbor are asking permission to go out to the property line and put in a Back-Flow Preventer and a Ball-Cock Valve. City Engineer Miller said if they do this he wants them to also put in a clean-out to the main sewer~ Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Tlmmerma~ agreed that a clean-out should be put in also. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve them putting a Back-Flow Preventer, a Ball-Cock Valve and a cleanout, seconded by Street Commissioner Trembly and carried unanimously. RELEASE OF CREDIT City Engineer Miller made the motion to release $19,148.75 from the Letter of Credit at Lansberg Cove~ Section 3, seconded by Street Commissioner Trembly and carried unanimously. RED RIBBON AWARENESS WEEK Joe Dufton with the Clark County Youth Coalition asked to have street banners put up for Red Ribbon Week October 23-31st. Street Commissioner Trembly said the banner could be hung at the Street Department on Tenth Street. PAGE 3 AUGUST 25, 1997 YARD WASTE TAGS Street Commissioner Trembly said Solid Waste is putting out a bulletin to residents letting them know that the yard waste season is October to December 19th with the Sl.00 tag fee being waived during this time They asked if the City wants to be included in this bulletin. Street Commissioner Trembly made the motion to waive the $1.00 fee for yard waste and to extend the season, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. before the Board There being no further business to come Works and City Engineer Miller made the motion to ad3ourn a.m., seconded by Street Commlssioner/JDeorge Trembly and unanimously. ~AYO~ of Public at 10:00 carried
