'.145~ RIDGEWAY DRIVE Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman reported that he checked out the previously discussed problem with the sewer at t45~ Ridgeway Dr. along wlth 1452 Rldgeway Drive. Jean:~-~' :McMtCha~"l' is7 g'iven a building permit, she needs* to be informed of all that needs to be don~ to mak~ the PAGE 2 AUGUST 18, 1997 HANDICAPPED RAMPS Jorge Lan.z of Jacobl, Toombs, and Lan'z'spoke in' regards to handicapped ramps to be installed. He presented a map showing the locations to be targeted. A transition, plan;i~is atta'ched: ~There' was discussioh: O~ the type of material to be used for the ramps. Ed Ratulowski with the Federal Highway Administration was introduced and he gave some s~ggestions on types of materials for the ramps. Mr. Ratulowski said per_ hiSki!etter of_July .28, 1997, ~what he :is looking for is a response back by A~gust 27th. on the plan to do this work. Helwould also like to see.~D:~. ~endment~.to thg_~ Voluntary Compliance 'Agreement and an amendment to the Transitionl Plan..Mayor Galligan said that S90,Q00 was budgeted for 1996r199.7 'and the .city intends to spend the $90,000, less what has already been spent on handicapped ramps to this date. NEW EMPLOYEES SRT TRAINING :,,. p,,~ ~. ~.~ ~- Chief Pa~ey requested approval.to close Riverside Drive between Illinois Avenue and Rl~erpointe Plaza for SRT Training on TuEsday, August 19, 1997 between 12 noon and 8 p.m.. Ramada Inn and The Harbours have been notified. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve closing the street, seconded by Director urban and qarrled unanimous 1 y. He said there have been three more violations. Director Urban made the motion to approve s~nding the Notice of Violation to Wyandot, seconded by City Engineer Miller an~ carried unanimously. Police Chief Pavey asked approval to hire 2 new police officers; Both have passed their written, psychological, physical, and agility tests. He'd like them to be hired effective September 2, 1997. City Engineer Miller made the motion to approve hiring 2 police Officers~ 's~cOnded . . by Director Urban and carried unanimously. TENTH STREET LIFT STATION Wastewater Treatment Plant Assistant Director Timmerman requested approval to repair the #5 Pump at the Tenth St. Lift Station. Director Urban made the motion to approve the repair, seconded by City Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. PAGE 3 AUGUST 10g 1997 FIRE SCHOOL Fire Chief Mike Smith requested to close 100 ft. of Riverside in the 7007 block to use for Indiana Fire School on August 23 and August 24. He's also like for City Engineer Miller to contact Ms. Lukens from Cinergy. There is a pole with 3 transformers that need to be taken down near the parking lot of the future Buckheads location. Mayor Galligan said lights are needed at the corner of Chestnut and Pearl St. near the River Falls Motel. DEMOLITION Building Commissioner Yancy Pinkston reported that on June 2, Hattie Huff-Malone and Hattie Young appeared before the Board for a citation for failure to maintain property at 1016 Locust Street. Building Commissioner Plnkston said the only thing that has been done is painting the front of the house and the yard cut. He recommends demolishing it. City Attorney Galllgan told the Building Commissioner he would need to send Ms. Young and Ms. Malone a Condemnation Order first before having a hearing. City Attorney Galllgan inquired on the status of Dr. Rahman's property and Building Commissioner Pinkston said he inspected this location and Dr. Rahman was to complete some other items and was given 30 days to complete by Building Commissioner Pinkston. Building Commissioner Plnkston said 507 E. Ninth Street needs to be demolished also. He will be sending out a Demolition Order. Mayor Galllgan said there is one at 428 Meigs Avenue that needs to be demolished also. Building Commissioner Pinkston said an order would be sent out. There being no further business Works and Planning and Zoning adjourn at 11:30 a.m., seconded unanimously.
