OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MONDAY JULY 7, 1997
Mayor Thomas R. Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and
on call Of the roll those members present were~ Safety Director Harold
Lakeman, and Planning and Development Director Jim Urban.
Also present were: Street Commissioner George Trembly, City Engineer
Bob Miller, City Attorney Anne Marie Sedwick, Sewage Office Manager
Bob Goldman, Parks Director of Activities Bev Couts, Wastewater
Treatment Plant Assistant Director Scott Timmerman, Vehicle
Maintenance Foreman Mike Ewton, Police Major Jack Pleeman, Fire Chief
Mike Smith,Building Commissioner Yancy Pinkston, and Clerk Lynne
Kempf.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the payrolls as presented,
seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the minutes as presented,
seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously.

SPEED LIMIT SIGN
At a previous meeting a request was made for a speed limit sign on
Melody Lane in Mayfair Apartments. Street Commissioner George Trembly
recommended putting up 2 signs at 25 mph. Director Lakeman made the
motion to approve 2) 25 mPh signs on MelOdy Lane, seconded by Director
Urban and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT PARKING
At a previous meeting a request was made for a resident only parking
sign at 318 and 320 Graham Street. The police department checked this
location and recommended a resident only sign. Director Urban made
the motion to approve a resident only sign, seconded by Director
Lakeman and carried unanimously.
SEWER TAP-IN
james Stahl of 5710 1/2 Hamburg Pike requested a sewer tap-in. Mayor
Galligan told Mr. Stahl to get with Wastewater Treatment Plant
Assistant Director Scott Timmerman on the det~alils.' Director Urban
made the motion to approve the sewer tap at 5710 1/2 Hamburg Pike,
seconded by Director Lakeman and carried unanimously.

CITATION
Stephen and Cynthia Prather were cited in to the Board of Public Works
because of hedges on their property at 534 Main Street which obstruct
the view of motorists and that has caused an accident. The Prather's
did not appear before the Board but Street Commissioner Trembly said
the hedges have been trimmed. Mayor Galligan said the hedges need to
come out because Mr. Prather will not cooperate and keep his hedges
trimmed down.
NO PARKING
Bev Couts of the Parks Dept. requested "no parking" signs on Riddle
Street because of loitering. Director Lakeman made the motion to
approve the "no parking" signs, seconded by Director Urban and carried
unanimously.
AUTO TECH
Kathy Gentry of Auto Tech requested street lights by Auto Tech on 12th
Street and Watt to deter break-ins. City Engineer Bob Miller said he
would look into how many are needed there. Director Lakeman made the
motion to approve the street lights, seconded by Director Urban and
carried unanimously.
12TH STREET PARKING
Director Urban said there is a parking problem on 12th St. in the 500
block between Watt and Champion Wood with abandoned vehicles. City
Attorney Galligan said a notice should be sent stating that the
vehicles need to be removed from the city right of way within so many
days and if they are not, then we can through the Abandoned Vehicle
Procedure which means the city can dispose of the vehicles. Mayor
Galligan suggested putting up "no parking-cars wili~ be ~towed" signs.
Director Lakeman made the motion to approve the "no parking-cars will
be towed" signs, seconded by Director Urban and carried unanimously.
INDUSTRIAL WATER RECYCLING
City Attorney Anne Marie Galligan recommended dismissing the lawsuit
that was filed during the previous administration against Industrial
Water Recycling for odor problems. She said they have made great
strides to remedy their problems and have been very cooperative.
Director Urban made the motion to approve dismissing the lawsuit
against Industrial Water Recycling, seconded by Director Lakeman and
carried unanimously.

1410 SPRING STREET
Travis Shields spoke in regards to parking problems at 1410 Spring
Street where he and his wife operate a business. He asked for a
"loading zone" sign. Director Lakeman made the motion to approve a
"loading zone" sign, seconded by Director Urban and carried
unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board of Public
Works and Safety, Director Lakeman made the motion to adjourn at 10:30
a.m., seconded by Director Urban and cart/lied unanimously.
